I wanted to start a thread since I know there's plenty of doll collectors and pink enthusiasts in this community!

I absolutely LOVED this movie I saw it on Friday!

How we all feeling about it?

I haven’t seen it yet, but glad to hear that it’s good since I definitely plan to!

Oh I loved it! I kept turning over to my boyfriend the entire time and being like “That’s a real doll” when Midge, The Dog (you know the one) or Magic Earring Ken came on screen. I’m not a Barbie collector but it was so fun to have so many nods to niche Barbies throughout the film. I also loved that a movie this overtly feminist is going to be one of the biggest box office hits this year. Some stuff is a little cliche, sure, but I think that for many young girls and older women, including my mother who I really want to see this, this movie will be very empowering.

Yes 100% it had everything! So many references to actual Barbie lore and history like Midge etc! Magic Earring Ken had me screaming! I don’t collect Barbies because my bank account and limited shelf space can’t cope with another doll / toy collection among my ponies and other dolls, but I do love her and love learning all the obscure lore from youtube.

I found it so empowering, and I saw it with my male partner, dad and mum and we all loved it. My dad is 60 and has become pretty progressive in the past decade anyway but he thought it was great. I laughed all the way through until the point where I cried my eyes out hahaha. It’s super validating for women and undeniably feminist but I felt that the message with the Kens was in the end equality, learning and growing together, and that everyone deserves validation. I loved the way it did everything and those who thought that Ken was the ’villain’ or that the movie ‘bashed men’ just deeply missed the point!

Also MAN I LOVE PINK

Also also………I did not know that depression watching BBC’s pride and prejudice was a universal female experience or that other people even still liked the BBC’s pride and prejudice lmao but tiktok is blowing up about that joke and honestly? Human experience truly is a monolith lol

I saw it and loved it, too. Pretty much in agreement with all your points, Grace Ruby. I loved all the nods to Barbie dolls and history (that I knew about, at least). Loved the character of "Weird Barbie", especially her look in the 2nd half of the movie. Loved the funny moments. Loved the touching moments. Loved the messages.

I also thought, as I watched the movie, "how much FUN was this movie must have been to make?" XD ESPECIALLY at the Ken Beach Battle scene?! :lolpony: How the actors got through some of the scenes without breaking down into hysterical laughter, I don't know. XD

I absolutely loved Weird Barbie!!! I think they're releasing her as a collector doll and I don't think I'll be able to resist buying her

It was SO fun, I'd have loved to have been a part of it. All the interviews have had the actors saying what a fun and nice environment it was. I loved the Kens - the fake riding horses walk how did they not all laugh every time.

Omg it was amazing! I adore weird Barbie since that was pretty much all my Barbies. The overall message was wonderful and it still managed to make me cry between all the antics.

Yes I cried my eyes out at the end lol

I was interested in it until I found out Margot Robbie was playing Barbie.
I really dislike her acting. Epecially after Birds of Prey. If it had been a different actress I'd be interested. Epecially since I loved Barbie so much growing up.

Oh I absolutely love her, and I loved Birds of Prey

I wasn’t overly impressed with that Suicide Squad movies, but it was more of the plot than Robbie as an actress. I thought the cartoon version was better representation to the story.

That said, she really nailed it as Barbie.

Realising that the sheer amount of horses means I've created a mojo dojo casa houseView attachment 75395

I haven't seen it yet but I am glad to see the barbie dolls before 1996 get more love again, I'm gonna wait for it to come out to rent it :)

I have not yet seen the Barbie movie but the mention of Horse Adventures got me replying here. That game… it was so good. I was never into Barbie but that game was amazing. Have you ever played the PS2 version? My best friend introduced me to the PS2 version and it’s like an entirely different game!
Also, little kid me enjoyed Barbie Explorer on PS1.
