Hi,

I am new to the group so wanted to say hi. I also have realised that my MLP G1 Tornado was 'Made in Thailand'. I have searched the threads and have seen that he is rare but wondered if there is any more information on these yet? Some of the threads are from 2006, so wondering if there is any newer information? Are there many known in the UK?

Thank you

Bee

as far as i know, there isn't any info out there about them aside from their rarity/how many there are and differences between them and the hong kong versions. they are extremely rare and i think there are only 2 or 3 known thai tornados. would you mind posting photos of yours?

Any additional info would be gratefully received.

Thank you

Colors are really pleasing ! I love the G1 colors honestly, it seems more diversed than in G3 :0

This is so cool. Thankyou for showing him to us! :happyhearts:

He looks neat! In one of those FB groups someone had mentioned their Thailand pony was better quality. I know you don't have two to compare but what do you think?

Wow! What a wonderful rare pony! Unlike the regular version, it looks like his hair should fall toward the display side! I like this one way better!

Hello! Anne Washburn (who has an extensive Nirvana collection) has both Thai and HK versions of these ponies, and she tells me that the plastic and hair are of better quality and that their color and vibrancy have held up better over time compared to their HK counterparts. I have also had the honor of holding one of her Thai ponies, and can confirm that this is so. They are VERY hard to find. And I agree, they show up less than even Japanese Takara or Colombians. Considering that Takara and Colombians tend to go for around $800 USD to over $2000 USD, I'd say this Tornado's value is close to the upper end of that spectrum.

Edit: I'd also like to note this because some may be confused. This value only pertains to the Thai Mountain Boys! There are also fancy pants babies that were made in Thailand and marked Thailand in their feet. However, they are very common and were widely distributed compared to the small distribution of these boys.
