I was digging through blind bag boxes, looking at the codes. It was wave 10. A beautiful little girl was sort of peeking through another box, looking forlorn. Her dad had fussed at her to hurry. She was feeling the bags, obviously looking for somepony special. I asked her who did she want? She told me most earnestly she really really really wanted Fluttershy. She knew she had a new mold, so she thought she could find her by feel. She only had enough money for one, so it had to be her. She was almost teary, so I knew it meant the world to her.
I had the list of codes, so i started looking for Fluttershy too. I told her dad i could find her for sure looking at the numbers, and he relaxed and stopped griping at her. "I don't know why it's so important," he muttered and the little girl said, "Because Fluttershy is me, daddy. She's me. I need her for courage."
I understood her immediately. Sometimes there just something about a particular character (or Pony!) that we see ourselves in. Luck would have it I found Fluttershy very quickly and the kiddo just danced with her. The dad thanked me and they headed to the groceries to meet up with her mom. For some reason I was so taken with the child and her love of Fluttershy I grabbed a 10" Funrise plushie and dashed up to the front to pay for her and my few blind bags. Then I ran to groceries, luckily found her with her mom and dad and handed the toy to her (and the receipt to her dad. I didn't want her to get nabbed for attempted theft without proof of purchase! lol!). The parents were a little surprised, but I told them, she needed a pocket Fluttershy for courage and a big one to hug.
She was so happy. I left quickly to leave her in the moment. Sometimes you just need to share something you love.
