Howdy, I'm Syrcaid! I thought I'd share some of my drawing tips with you before I posted my latest works!

This is how I typically draw G1 MLP heads. The proportions here should be good for most adult, grown MLP faces. From all the illustrations I've gathered and stared at for hours, typically ears are very kitty shaped and sit above and close to the edge of the eye. Where the eye stops near the back of the head, the ear begins upward.

I noticed the eyes of most G1 pony illustrations for coloring books or box art have the eye very close to center of the skull and almost always upright or looking upward no matter the position of the muzzle. Perhaps to reflect on how the actual figures looked. Eye shine dots usually met up with the upper lashes. Lower lashes mirror uppers horizontally.

These rules aren't set in stone, obviously! These are the "rules" I set for myself so the characters look uniform when I draw them.

Thank you!

For the past... Probably close to 20 years, I've been making adoptables. First they were cyberpets, then they were "breedables" on Gaia Online, now they're adoptables on various sites that allow it. That's pretty much what I love doing most. Creating, coloring, editing, buy/trade/selling character designs and world building with those characters.

Just some background info to explain this next picture! These are bases! Sometimes called templates, based on who you ask. They all mean the same thing: lines and layers that form the adoptable. They get edited and colored to create new characters. Like lines on a coloring book, only digital most of the time. I think I've gotten my skills and my lines where I want them to be enough to create a new set of G1 styled pony lines. So far I've made about eight, working on more!

They appear as alicorns on these, but the horn and the wings can be turned off or on as I need them to be. The Flutter and Big Brother/Flutter will probably get horns added to their bases soon.

I'm currently working on (or fist fighting with, rather!) a Sweetheart Sister pose. Sweetheart Sisters had such stretchy proportions and I'm trying to find a balance. Their backcard illustrations kind of went all over the place, so I'm having to just make it look consistent with my own style instead.

Thank you!
