I don't know if this belonged more in general or custom, but here I go.
I found a box of a set of princess ponies in my closet >.<; I don't know how the heck I never took them out and try to clean them up. I think I bought it from a yard sale a long long long time ago. Anyways the tinsel is very crinkled and I was wondering if there's a way to groom it, even if it's one tinsel at a time. I don't want to reroot. Some of the princess ponies (G1) Have a forelock of purely tinsel...

I'd appreciate any ideas on this. :rose3:

Wow really ? Thanks Satin <3

One more question, does the hot water method with hair ruin tinsel? o.o

I've wondered about that myeslf. I have a few G3s with crazy tinsel. My usual solution with those is to detinsel, but I think I'll try to iron it next time. If I can manage to do it without injuring myself. I don't get on well with my iron.

Both the iron and hot water methods work well on tinsel, but only the metallic kind. The irridescent tinsel on my Pony Bride didn't fare so well.

I have a Princess Royal Blue with really crinkled tinsel but I've noticed that tinsel is very delicate as when I was brushing her hair to get the knots out some of it fell off

No problems

I have no problems with tinsel. I take regualr perm curlers, after brushing the hair add moose or gel, and wrap it up in the curler over night. When it comes down you can leave or curled or run a flat iron through it.

I use my flat iron I got at wal-mart for less than $20 and set it low and turn it up as I work on it because I'm never sure. it doesn't require much heat, but the results are fantastic!!

Both mousse and gel have been known to damage pony hair, though. I just always use a flat iron with lots of conditioner for protection from the heat.

You should never EVER iron transparent G3 tinsel, it will become A MESS. You can ONLY iron metallic tinsel, so be careful!

Wow<3 Can we get some of these suggestions in the FAQ?
Thanks for all the talk about tinsel. Ya I wouldn't want to detinsel a whole forelock of hair. It is the metallic type of tinsel <3 I'll have to dig everything out on the weekend hopefully. I don't know if I have a bait pony to try it on so I'm just gonna be careful, but since a lot of you suggested it through experience I'm going to try it! :)

Thanks for that! I would have tried it and been very very sad. XD So is bad G3 tinsel just out of luck, then?

About G3 tinsel--I do remember that once I left a Sparkleworks in a hot car to try to loosen its neck seal, and the tinsel turned sort of droopy and flat. I guess maybe that would be an improvement to messy tinsel? It wasn't too bad, not melted or anything, just less springy.

With crinkled tinsel, Ive always ironed it with an iron that is only warm.... Takes a little while but works perfectly..... You can also cover the tinsel with some sheer type of fabric with the iron slightly hotter....

Are we talking about a clothes iron or a flat iron or both?

I wonder since the hot car worked a little on the tinsel if a hair dryer would work? Anyone tried that?

I have tons of G3's with tinsel issues so this is great info! Thanks.
