Hey, this is a weird question, but I can't seem to find the information elsewhere. Does anyone else remember the storytime records from the 80s? The "when you hear the chime... (*chiiiiiing!*)...turn the page" ones that had a small record and a read-along book?

I know I had one with Moondancer and something about a hill at night; I really can't remember the story at all. My second one was about Firefly and Medley getting lost up in the clouds.

Does anyone remember the titles? (Or any of the plot of the Moondancer story?)

And I have a storybook (not a with-record one) about Baby Moondancer that sounds kind of like the other story you're describing?? I would go get it to double check but it's currently in storage. >.<

I heard the Firefly and Medley one on YouTube a while back. Here: Part 1, Part 2 There might be other sources, but this is the one I know. It does also have a part with Moondancer in the mist, though...

Oh yeah! Moondancer had to be a lighthouse for them! I was almost certainly misremembering that image of Moondancer as a separate book.

I have The Magic Rainbow tape and book. I think it might be second book you're thinking of. Blossom, Moondancer and Firefly each make a wish that doesn't turn out like they planned. Moondancer wishes for it to be dark so she can glow. I have scans that I can post of it.

I used to have these types of stories! Most of mine were on cassette, though.

Wow.... I just really, really dated myself. LOL

I think there were a number of different ones released on cassette as well as record. I had Shock at the Show Stable and one about the Sea Pony's (I can't know remember the name except that there was a mermaid in it, I think called Miranda...).
I'm glad you posted I'd never seen those two!
