So, where do baby ponies come from?

My theory for the G1s, since not all baby ponies looked like their parents, were that the Big Brothers were quite literally brothers, and had numerous sets of twins, so there would be like 10 ponies who all looked like Chief but had slightly different names. I think this provided enough individual males to parent families.

For G3s I just made quite a few of them into males.. I know Wondermint, Denim Blue, Dainty Daisy (he was called Mr. Daisy), Flippity Floppity (or w/e his name was), the orange/purple Butterfly Island pony, Minty and Periwinkle were all males. I think I had a couple others as well.
 
On the twins backcards a double rainbow announced the arrival of the twins so I just assumed the rainbows brought them, lol.

Found this interesting tidbit on MyLittleWiki on Sniffles and Snookums and Dibbles and Dabbles origins in the UK comics:

They are also characters in the UK comic books. Their origin is rather odd. Baby Tiddly Winks drew a tiny pegasus and a tiny unicorn on a sheet of paper. Baby Lucky then found the paper and traced the pictures, making a total of two pegasi and two unicorns. Gusty drew a bassinet and stroller for them. When Baby Lucky wished the two sets of twins were real, and they promptly climbed into their accessories and popped off the page.

ha ha my penpal and I had this same conversation about barbies. When you were growing up you always have like twenty barbies and if you were lucky ONE ken. So a few barbies always got kid customized becoming men. Hair was cut, beards were sharpied on, and there you had your ladies new men! The same were true with ponies! You always had to sacrifice a few women to become men, for the sake of the heard!! ha ha

I actually though Salty was a girl when I was little and I had him paired with Chief, so looking now i'm like awww what a cute boy couple.

SO Now I want to start a new post, "Where there every any ponies you use to pretend were boys or thought were boys who may have been girls? (Also, do you still think of them as boys or have you changed your mind?)"
 
The magic mirror is just the excuse the older ponies told the little ones as to where babies come from. Much like our cabbage patch and stork things. :satisfied:

In the show Slugger was infatuated with Buttons, so eh hem....

Also in G1 there are the loving families collections that have mommies, daddies and babies....so I think there is more to that story than a magic mirror....
