I totally dont get it. I dont watch the OC, so what is it? I heard that Princess Sparkle made an apperance on an episode of the show....was someone's favorite pony/toy. IS that all there is to it? I was browsing around and saw an auction for her, going for NEARLY $40 and I figured there must be something about her...nope, but the high bidder had "the OC" in their screen name. Good greif. Ive got a half bait one I was thinking about selling, but I dont have a good one. Guess I should hold on to her??

there is this girl Summer, who at one point was going out withthis guy Seth. Seth has a plastic horse (almost looks like a grand champion). his name is Captain Oats.

Summer had princess Sparkle. Seth came over one day,and picked PS off the dresser, and summer starts screaming ' put princess Sparkle down!!!"

since then princess Sparkle has kinda been "dating Captain Oats LOL"

no sign of the bushwoolie yet.

and Marissa has a share bear, but the funny thing is, that they made it seem like it was her childhood bear. it's one of the 2003 releases LOL

Well, I actually live in "the OC", so of course myself and every female I know watches the show. It gives me a certain sense of pride and a bit of "street cred" around here to say that I actually have a Princess Sparkle. Luckily I've had mine since childhood.

I once sold a Princess Sparkle to someone who had the EXACT same colour hair.
 
Captain Oats might be a breyer, i don't know i'm not very good with them, unless i saw one mint in box with huge letters saying "BREYER" i wouldn't know one if it landed infront of me LOL i collect grand champions.

I highly doubt that one of the writers is the son of the MLP inventor i mean you never know but there's lots of ways to find the ponies name, i mean it could have Been Rachel Bilsons and she knew who it was. maybe it was Bens LOL
 
I don't know and I've never seen the OC, but after the OC/MLP thing was first mentioned last spring, I put a so-so P.S. up on eBay paired with an old Breyer pony (the ones that resemble Grand Champions, with hair manes/tails) that looked like the pic that was posted of Captain Oats. Yes, I sold them "like in the O.C.", and I got $30 for them. :shock:
 
I think it's kind of dumb, because now all of a sudden one pony's price is going to skyrocket due to some TV show. Then the sellers will put stupid prices on them later on thinking that the pony is actually worth more than it is and we'll have a shortage of Princess Sparkles because some dumb person spent 40 and thinks others should, too.

Personally, Sparkle was one of my 'unicorn' ponies, lol no pun intended, meaning that I could never seem to find one in good condition and win her in auction. I finally bought one from someone on the TP. She really is gorgeous.

Ya now that you mention it, there are a lot of Unicorns out there who have just seen better decades (Moonstones+perfect symbol='unicorn', Moondancer, Glory, Sparkle, Twilight...hmmm...)

I put my Sparkle on auction today for fun and within 8 hours, there were 20+ pageviews and a bid. o_O Maybe thats not astonishing, but it is for me! So I guess all this hype means is: if you want a Sparkle, buy her from someone on the TP or Arena! :D
 
I really want to see the episodes with Princess Sparkle in them. So far, I've noticed the Breyer (Captain Oats I guess) and Share Bear, but I never saw Princess Sparkle yet. I've only watched a few shows though. I just did a search and it seems like Captain Oats is Breyer #1119, Pony of the Americas from 2000-2001 (his name is not Captain Oats so that must be the name Seth made up for him?)

I think this Princess Sparkle/Captain Oats thing is really cute. I always heard about them being in the show from people on here, but this is the first I've heard of them kind of dating on & off. That doesn't sound weird to me--it sounds a lot like how my friend & I would play with some of our my little ponies in the 80s. If anyone has these episodes taped or something and wants to trade them for taped pony episodes, PM me.

I love Princess Sparkle. She's one of my childhood ponies.

I'm thinking they either got her from a thrift store or just went on ebay looking for MLP, found her, looked nice and bought her for the show. The whole idea of MLP appearing on TV is cute. I particularly loved the episode where Summer's gonna go to Italy with another guy and before she leaves she's all "oh no! I can't leave without Princess Sparkle".

I also noticed the thing about Marissa's care bear... her childhood bear is a new one... so... then again... ebay maybe?
 
I hate the OC, it's about a bunch of rich kids...and their problems...and it's rediculous sparkle is going so high, thankfull yI have her already from a flea market, but still.
 
That is too funny, its kinda cute but also sad at teh same time lol. I hope all those ppl that impulse bought her arent going to throw her out when the craze is over *tear*

oh SHELL now I'll never get her... I wondered why this auction I was looking at had OC in the title.. I've never heard of it (then again, I'm in the UK).
Sparkle's been on my want list for ages, waaay before I heard of this show :( now I'm not gonna be able to get her *tear*
I can't even find a BAIT one on ebay who hasn't got more than 4 bids!

I think there may be some truth to the rumor about the OC creator being the son of the MLP inventor. I just went to the OC website (http://www.fox.com/oc/home.htm) and read his (Josh Schwartz's) bio. It says he is from Providence, RI and is the son of toy inventors.

Now Princess Sparkle being chosen for the show makes more sense. For all we know that is a souvenir he got from his parents from when they were designing the Princess Pony line.

Also, I have done the math, and Summer would have to have inherited the pony from an older friend or cousin or something, because if she was, say, 16 in 2004 that makes her born in 1988. The Princess Ponies were out in 1986-1987. Even if the birth year is wrong, it's still an unlikely baby toy.
