I have some So Soft Ponies with lovely Flocking. Yet also have some in my Flocked herd that have scratched or missing flocking. A few have really bad flocking.

Example my So Soft Angel. I put her on the market, but sadly fellow collectors declined her due to her condition.

i been considering de-flocking her, But im not sure if anyone would be interested in adopting her into their herd after she been de-flocked.
Also im not sure if a Deflocked Angle would be worth much.

my question is this should i de-flock her, or leave her The way she naturally is. your thoughts…

Glancing at eBay and Mercari, there's a couple of deflocked Angels that seemed to sell for about the same as a flocked one. There's also a couple with really bad flocking damage that seem to stay around the same as well.. I think the high demand for her + rarity means she doesn't fluctuate much based off of flocking, but I am not very good with pricing so take that with a grain of salt.
Ultimately it's up to you what you think would be best for her, but looking at the pictures her flocking doesn't seem terrible! Since you're planning on selling her, I'd personally opt to keep the flocking for a little more 'broad appeal'? Plus then the buyer could decide whether to deflock or try to patch the damage. Not sure how to word that right..

Ouch her poor nose. With the deflocked parts on the face & nose it is hard to avoid. Flocking repair is harder to match exactly the right length, colour (esp if in larger patches and original flocking is aged) and thickness. Normally deflocking loss by the ears and feet (the most common deflock locations) can be easier to ignore/tolerate.

I would vote for deflocking too, but care around the symbols, cheeks, eyelashes etc. She would definitely be adoptable once deflocked (sometimes deflocked ponies like Angel can even sometimes sell for a bit higher given the improvement to colour & condition and the effort it takes to deflock but it does vary pony by pony on pricing for deflocks). It is also a shame about the nose since you have a comb and good ribbon to go with her.

It would also be much easier if she was deflocked should anyone choose to reflock her as it would not show the patches on her face as much when reflocked as a whole.

@Babylofty416 wow she is a stunner, that is a gorgeous deflocked Angel.

I was at the same dilemma with my SS Angel. Only she looked like coffee was spilled on her. I tried to save the flocking but ultimately ended up Deflocking and she looks so much better and happier!

My vote is deflock. Especially because of the flocking loss on her face.
Beautiful deflocking. This is amazing quality :)

I would also vote for de-flocking. I think in her state she would look much nicer without the flocking. I might be a bit biased though, because I don’t keep any flocked ponies (it’s a sensory issue for me)

Are you trying to sell her? I would keep the flocking on in case someone wants to get her even with messed up flocking. If shes cheaper than other flocked Angels and someone wants a deflocked one they could buy it and deflock it themselves. Either way: If the flockings on the buyer could choose what to do with it
If you’re keeping her for yourself then its your own personal judgement on what you want. Does the flocking bother you enough to where you want it gone? Or do you not mind it as much?
I know I never want to deflock any of my ponies even if their flocking is bad, just isn’t something I personally want to do since I like trying to preserve ponies to as close to original condition as I can. So if I were the buyer: I’d rather buy one with messed up flocking than one with no flocking at all. But then there are other people who hate flocking and want to remove it all. So it’s all personal preference.

A deflocked Angel is pretty high on my wishlist! I'm not confident in my own deflocking abilities so I've been waiting to find one for sale.

If you do decide to deflock and list her for sale, feel free to pm me!
