Pretty sure this was just a myth, wasn't it? Similar animation was used for a lot of early g1 commercials, and as far as I know there's no evidence for a third special being produced that focused on the first set of rainbow ponies. Would be cool if there was though! The animation at the beginning of this commercial was included as a preview for a special that either was never produced or never aired. It was included on a VHS for either Rescue at Midnight Castle/Firefly's Adventure or Escape from Catrina.
Ooh what a fun link! There were lots of goodies on that page. I don't have one but I'm here to read everyone else's!
Can't confirm or deny. The animation is recycled from R@MC/FA, and I haven't watched the VHS in years. Didn't even have a working VCR until we recently found a cheap one in an antique store.Pretty sure this was just a myth, wasn't it? My interesting fact is kind of a g1/g3 combo, but the g1 poses were mostly sculpted by different people, and were all created from scratch. G3, however, had one primary person in charge of poses. She created a base model which would then be resculpted into new poses. This is why the g1 poses can look pretty different from each other while the g3 ponies tend to be more consistent style- and proportion-wise!
