I hope I am posting this in the right spot.

I wasn't even aware that buying and selling MLP's was such a big thing! I just recently found a big box in my storage. (haven't seen the light of day in 10+ years. I am kind of wondering if anyone would be willing to advise me in getting these cleaned up and sold? I had planned on including them in a yard sale for 10 cents each to raise money for my dogs cancer treatment before a friend freaked out on me. :surprisepony:

Thanks for anything,

Maybe post a group shot so we can see what you have, and we can give you an idea of what you have and what it's worth. Different generations, sets, variations, and certain ponies can be worth a lot more than others.

Welcome to the TP! If you can post some pics of your ponies I'm sure we'd be able to help you with id's and price checks. If any ponies need some heavy duty cleaning tips, you can check out the tutorials. You can even sell your ponies on this site if you don't want to deal with ebay. Good luck!

Good idea. These don't show the ponies off very well but you can see the dirt and pen marks.
I have already been reading about the manes. Some are having seriously bad hair days! lol

The only one not pictured is a yellow winged pony with a humming bird mark.

Wow what a great group! I'll list off some that I see and then if you google the names you can match the photos: Dancing Butterflies, Napper, Daddy Sweet Celebrations, Lickety Split, Mirror Mirror, 2 Gusty's, Peachy, Baby Blossom, Moonstone, 4 speed, Love Melody, Fire Fly, Baby Glory, Galaxy, Princess Tiffany...and so many more! I see some pearly babies which I've noticed go for a good bit. I don't know the winger ponies at all so hopefully another member can help out some more.

For ponies I can see there's Tropical Breeze, Parasol, Beachcomber, Magic Mirror and Windy.
That that's all I could identify off the top of my head in just one picture.
You can get a ton of money by selling each of these ponies individually here, people are always interested in adding to their collections.
If you need any advice on how to clean them up you can drop me a PM :)

Welcome to the TP! :D

I went through and ID'd all of them with a corresponding number according to this picture:
picture.php

(I went mostly left to right but forgot poor shovels at some point and doubled back for her)

I wrote down the name associated with each number and after in parentheses did a vague price estimate just to give you an idea. Obviously their actual prices depend a lot on condition but these are assuming they're in pretty good shape which I think a lot of these could get into if you're willing to put the time in and clean them up.

1) Dancing Butterflies ($7)
2) Lickety Split ($5)
3) Parasol ($2)
4) Baby Toe Dancer ($5)
5) Napper ($8 )
6) Pink Sweet Talkin' Pony ($10 - could be more if she still talks)
7) Diamond Dreams ($50)
8 ) Cupcake ($5)
9) Best Wishes ($2)
10) Mirror Mirror ($4)
11) Tropical Breeze ($7)
12) Windy ($4)
13) Forget-Me-Not ($5)
14) Swinger ($5)
15) Twinkler (MO?) ($7 if she's store, $12 if she's mail-order - you can tell this by if she has a firework symbol on her cheek)
16) Tiffany ($7)
17) Jangles ($5)
18 ) Sandcastle ($25)
19) Sea Breeze ($7)
20) 4 Speed ($20)
The Hat next to him belongs to Tex, I know those hats have value but I don't know how much. Hopefully someone else can advise.
21) Wind Whistler ($8 )
22) Ribbon ($5)
23) Baby Bright Bouquet ($6)
24) Galaxy ($9)
25) Cuddles ($4)
26) Wavy (95% sure) ($9)
27) fairy tail bird - not MLP
28 ) Rattles OR Tattles (check for a number under her hoof) ($9)
29) Baby Palm Tree (95% sure) ($21)
30) Love Melody ($6)
31) Pinwheel ($6)
32) Sky Flier ($6)
33) Sea Star ($5)
34) Pina Colada ($7)
35) Daddy Bright Bouquet ($10)
36) Blossom (FF or CF?) ($7 for CF, $11 for FF - you can tell if she's flat footed by if her feet are flush instead of being concave like all the other ponies, based on the picture I'm guessing she's CF)
37) Peach Blossom ($3)
38 ) Beachcomber ($10)
39) Surf Rider ($6)
40) Sticky ($6)
41) Gusty ($10 - look much nicer than the other one)
42) Gusty ($6)
43) Moonstone ($5)
44) Gingerbread ($7)
45) Sugar Apple ($9)
46) Jangles ($5)
47) Baby Blossom ($6)
48 ) Pearly Baby Blossom ($20)
49) Fairy Tale Bird - not MLP
50) Pearly Baby Firefly ($25)
51) Cloud Puff ($7)
52) Sniffles ($6)
53) Wavedancer ($8 )
54) Peachy ($4)
55) Firefly ($3)
56) Baby Moondancer ($6)
57) Mommy Bright Bouquet ($4)
58 ) Baby Brother Sweet Celebrations ($5)
59) Baby Waddles ($15 at least, especially with his bandana, might be worth taking offers on him)
60) Shovels ($22)

Now, with all this in mind I have some suggestions for ways to sell based on how much time you want to invest. Selling individually will always get you the best price but you have a decent bulk of lower priced ponies so it might be worth selling those as a lots.

Ponies you should definitely sell separately -
6 - the Pink Sweet Talkin pony, especially if she works
7 - Diamond Dreams, your most valuable pony
18 & 60 - Sandcastle & Shovels - these are actually twins that go together, depending on how they clean up you could get a good amount of money for them
20 - 4 speed
28 - Rattles or Tattles
29 - Baby Palm Tree (assuming that's her)
23, 35 & 57 - the Bright Bouquet family might be worth selling together, dad will fetch the most though
48 - Pearlized Baby Blossom
50 - Pearlized Baby Firefly
49 - Baby Waddles

You have two other sets of baby newborn twins as well, Jangles & Tangles and Sticky & Sniffles who might make sense to sell as a pair.

I know nothing about Fairy Tail birds, they aren't MLP but other people here collect them, hopefully someone else can advise.

Thank you! You all have been amazing! Gusty365 that was wonderful of you and I so appreciate it. I really had no idea. I am still in a little shock over seeing some of those possible prices.

Ten cents a piece... I am *SO* glad your friend freaked out! You will certainly find buyers for many of those on the Trading Post or Arena, possibly even craigslist if you are comfortable with that venue. Good luck with your sales!

Just wanted to add that Tex's hat runs around $10 I believe.

The two Fairy Tail birds are also collectible! There are a good number of us who collect those as well. That one with the fuzzy tummy is more sought after than the other, though I'm not really sure on a price check with those. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe $3-4 for the pink one with the heart symbol (True Love Tails; she's pretty common), and at least $10 for the fuzzy tummy (Downy Tails).

if you want to sell everything at a years sale I would suggest putting something in the paper like And Craigslist saying..
"80's My Little Pony Vintage Collectables Grate for adult and child collectors!"

This way you have collectors come to you and they will be willing to pay you what they are worth. rather than a very confused child and parent scratching their head at the odd and high prices.

I never realized that those weren't MLP. I always kept them together! Good to know.

I got a $500 (!!) dollar offer out of the UK for the entire lot but I think she was attempting to run a scam on me. :( She wanted me to send the ponies and THEN pay for them because she has been burned in the past with sellers. She also wanted the 1-3 day shipping at the hefty cost of $155. I was like yeah no

Good thinking! That sounds super scammy.
