My wife was sweet enough to buy my Applejack's Sweet Apple Barn as a gift to tide me over while I wait for new pony toys, and she even was kind enough to paint Applejack's hat the right color before giving it to me! Even though the set came out a year ago, I was so satisfied with how great it is I couldn't resist writing a review!
You can check out my full review of Applejack's Barn with a ton of pictures over on my blog by clicking here.
Here's my general thoughts on the Applejack Sweet Apple Barn...
The Right:
*I'm thrilled we're getting the hat with the Applejack in this set, as none of the basic Applejack singles have it. Terrific texture on the sculpting of the hat, and I don't even mind the apple on the front.
*The barn is full of cool action features. The gate can open or close for ponies to stand under or walk through, the apple-themed weather vane really spins, there's a removable apple you can "pick" from the apple tree, and even two perches inside the tree for animal companion figures to sit in!
*I was amazed when I realized Applejack not only came with her lasso, but it can attach to her saddle! Since the ponies can't "hold" anything, I thought this was just so clever by Hasbro. Not thrilled with the pink saddle, but I adore the Applejack-specific lasso accessory.
*I also particularly love the rooster that can perch on top of the barn, and the bail of hay that comes with the set.
*Awesome value! A pony, a huge plastic barn facade, and a ton of accessories for just $14-$18.
The Wrong:
*Applejack's hat is the WRONG COLOR!! Hasbro obviously knows what color it's supposed to be, since they got it right on the box art, so there's no excuse. I'm lucky enough to have a custom brown hat my wife painted, but it bugs the crap out of me that Applejack naturally comes with a pastel blue hat.
*I don't like some of the other bizarre color choices on the set either. Carrots with pastel blue tops? A pink barn and pink shovel? It just doesn't make any sense.
