I’ve long since noticed the similarities between G2 Sea Breeze and G3 Baby Flower Flash…

But today I realized the similarities between G1 Good Weather and G2 Springly…

Are there other very obvious reuse of schemes between the generations that I’ve never noticed?

It's really a really interesting topic. It's crazy because they don't have the same name so they're not supposed to be the same character. But the color scheme is clearly a re-use !
I don't have any information but I'm really interested by others knowledge :satisfied:

I suppose G2 Sky Skimmer and G4 Fluttershy are pretty obvious ones…

Editing to add that I forgot about the G1 predecessors, Posey and Kisscurl!

Editing again for Red Roses and the Milkweed/Tumbleweed Twins

Oh, and then there’s G2 Wingsong who resembles G3 Petal Blossom even though there’s a G2 Petal Blossom, lol

Tbh, I think these kinds of reuse are more interesting. Not only colors - every gen had five pink on pink horses (and one Cupcake), - but the symbol's theme is also reused.

Celestial-themed ponies need to be extempt from such a search, there are only so many ways you can make sky and stars)

Edit: does anyone know why Sky Skimmer got renamed into Butterfly later? This makes her closer to Fluttershy, but is not something widely known.

G2 is weird like that. Sun Dance -> Sun Sparkle, Silver Swirl -> Star Swirl, Moonshadow -> Moonlight, while in essence they are the same pony. Could be the switch from the US to the EU market?

Edit: Sorry double post. I was editing the previous post and hit submit on the quote at the same time

G2 Ivy and G5 Jazz Hooves

Wow, those two are direct copies!! (Not that it’s complicated to copy pink on pink with blue stars, lol)

And these two definitely share a scheme!

I found a picture of someone comparing them…

There are ponies with similar color schemes even within one generation, like Rebeldream mentioned Posey and Kisscurl. G3 Anchors Away and Desert Palm share the same color scheme, and so does Meadowbrook, even though she has a violet stripe in her tail. I noticed that yellow body/teal or light blue hair is very popular combination, there are even G1 ponies with it: Good Weather, which was already mentioned, Sand Digger, Bubbles... They all don't share exactly the same colors, but still look very alike.

I found a G4 Ploomette pony in the charity shop a couple of days ago and her colours remind me of G3 Rarity.

Ohhhh! You know, I’ve never paid attention to Ploomette as a brushable, I only have her as a blind bag figure who has one color each in her mane and tail.

But you’re right that the order of the colors starting with yellow and orange at the top of her mane along with the pink body is similar. And they both have a heart in their cutie mark. Good catch!!

Thanks for the additional picture of Rarity, because it seems both have tinsel in their hair! I don't have the regular size Rarity, only the big styling pony who has no tinsel, so it was new info for me.
Oh and I didn't notice that they both have hearts. :)
