Hey all,

Looking for a bit of help - I got a lovely little Buzzer today, who really could do with a rehair as she's got a very frizzy/cut mane and tail. I've got the colour she needs, but how can I get to her tail to remove/replace it without damaging her wings?

There's the plastic plug part inside her that obviously holds them in place which stops me sliding my hemostats in to pull out the tail. Ideally I'd like to remove the wings and put them back once her tail is in but have no idea how to do this.

Can anyone offer any help please? :smilepony:

Thanks!

Oooh... thank you for that, it's really useful! I was hoping to be able to take the wings out that way, I just didn't want to force it if that wasn't how they worked. :smilepony:

I'm utterly in love with Buzzer, she's SO CUTE. I was so unprepared for her tiny size but I absolutely love her. :flutter2: <3

I tried just now with a pair of needle-nose pliers to get the plug from inside Buzzer so I could remove her wings safely but it won't budge. I don't want to force it and snap it off! I'm not sure what to do now as she does really need a new tail.

Hmm, well, really, you don't strictly have to remove the old tail from the neck. You could always cut it flush with her butt, and then insert the new tail from the outside. You'd have to heat and stretch the plastic and force the new tail in. The zip tie (I'm assuming you're using a zip tie?) will be big enough that when the plastic cools down again it won't come out. I do G4's that way so I don't mess with the neck plug. :)

Thank you Skeen, that's really helpful. =) I'm just used to going through the neck for tails, I guess!

Could I use boiling water if I dipped her bum in it, or should I go for a hair dryer on low heat?

You can use whatever is handy. :) I use hot water usually, because I customize at night when I'm settling down and want tea, so it's easy to boil a bit extra and sit a pony in it. Since I'm not using metal clasps (and would wet the hair anyway to style it) the water doesn't bother anything.

How big is she compared to a baby pony? Or, if you can, Can you measure how tall she is? anyways, Good luck with the rehair!

Thanks Skeen, I'll try hot water - I prefer to have more control over what the water touches when wings are involved, and I don't think I can get that from the hair dryer. Plus tea is always good! =)

ilikebothg1andg4ponies, I just stood my Buzzer beside Baby Liquorice (in Baby Blossom pose, since I think this one is most comparable to Buzzer's pose) and she's very slightly smaller in the legs and head. Only shorter by a smidge, otherwise they're very similar.

Excuse the rubbish photo, my lamp is awful.
