Hi everyone! This is my first time starting a thread on here. I recently purchased a Megan doll from MLPFUN who's legs had completely fallen off of her body! I was able to fix her, and I wanted to share how I did it in case anyone comes across something similar. I was also wondering if this was a common issue for Megans and Mollys? I know rubber and elastic degrades over time.
Megan as she arrived to me
Inside of each leg is a plastic hook. At first it just looks like a solid loop, but it's a hook, I promise. They had some sort of crumbly material caught inside, I think the remains of the string or elastic that held her legs in place before. I had to shake that out.
Inside of Megan's body is this thin straight piece of plastic. The rubber band that holds her legs in place will go on top of this.
I took a tiny hair elastic and tied a string to it. Honestly, her legs ended up being fairly loose, so an even smaller rubber band would be ideal. I'm going to re-do this once I can find one.
Hook the rubber band on the plastic hook inside her leg
and pull it through her joint holes using the piece of string you tied to it. As I said earlier, make sure the rubber band is on top of that plastic bar. Also make sure her leg is on the correct side.
The hardest part was then hooking the rubber band onto the hook in her other leg. Tweezers helped a lot. Also, her legs are made of two parts, the rubber of her actual leg and then this plastic cap that fits into her joint hole. They popped off on mine and popped right back on, which helped me get the hook in place.
And here we go!! Like I said, they're a little loose. Ideally the tension of the rubber band will hold them in place while still allowing her legs to move in the sockets. Still, it's better than her being legless!!
As a bonus: I bought this doll clothing set from Daiso, basically a Japanese dollar store starting to make it's way to the states. I just got it on a whim, so I was delighted to realize the shoes fit Megan's feet!
Because the rubber band is too big, she cant stand up on her own, but I still got some cute pictures!
Now I just need to fix up her hair a bit.
Hopefully this is helpful to someone!! I wasn't 100% sure where to post this since Megan isnt exactly a pony, but she is an official MLP toy.
