Does anypony have any experience re-rooting Shining Armor? I got one whose mane (and tail) have been completely cut off and thought I could re-root him since I don’t have this variation of him.
My only think is, because fabric was used does anyone have suggestions of how I can go about re-rooting with the “normal” brushable hair?

Here’s some pics of how is hair is currently:

Ooooh yeah I have made a few customs from this base.

Cut as much off as you can with scissors then boil him in a pan or pot on hard boil for a bit then scrape off the glue and stuff with exacto blade or razor blade

Yes, I ended up doing that. Honestly the worst and most frustrating re-root I’ve done. That part that really got me stressed and frustrated the most was the tail plug. It did not want to budge no matter how long I boiled it or tried to cut it... I got it (mostly) out after two hours of pushing a knitting needle through while in boiling water. I will never fancy up another one of these guys again.

Yeah I cheat a lot when customizing too cause I'm both clumsy and lazy, so half the time like that tail stub issue I just pin the new tail over the patch of fur, put some e6000 around the pin and hope for the best

I mean best advice I can really give is instead of giving up, don't becafraid to cheat and do lazy methods

Just do what gets the job done, I say

I love being part of a community where we take our toys apart with razors and boil their heads. MLP might sound 'girly' to some, but we're hardcore metal, man. :D

Oh my pony soups are THE BEST. They taste like friendship

Bwahahah! Mmmmm.... you can taste the love!

my friend came in when I had a sink fulla decapitated pony bodies and their sad sullen little heads. She peered at them for a moment, then she just looked over at me and said, "I ain't askin' ". That's a good philosophy to have.

All I could think about while I was using an exacto knife in boiling water and tongs to hold down my pony was “what do I tell the ER doctor when I cut myself?”

With your beautiful creations, I highly doubt your “lazy.” It takes a lot of time and effort to do customize a pony, something I have a whole new appreciation for. As for lazy methods, I’m all about that but I’m also pretty stubborn. I decided his tail plug was coming out and it was coming out gosh darn it. Lol He really did turn out great in the end.

So here’s my finial out come of My lovingly frustrating re-root of Shining Armor. I love how he turned out an the hair I ended up using, it’s preety perfect for him. I think I will trim his mane a bit more now that I see him with my other G4 boys... and then I need to figure out how to get his tail to not stick out like that. :/

Pfffffffft oh some of the ways I do things really are lazy xD
Like instead of spending a whole hour boiling a pony to get the inner neck plug loose, I'll just pin a tail on a pony

I usually do the exacto blade cutting after the boiling just make sure to drain the boiling water out of the pony and hold it with a thick towel

I've burnt myself with the boiling water numerous times

Looks good. Wet his tail down and curl-wrap it in paper towls and rubber bands.

I hate that Hasbro hates long haired stallions these days.

Too bad it's a royal pain to remove the troll doll hair. He'd make a fabulous bait for G4 ReUnicorno.

That’s my go to for hair styling. It didn’t work with this particular hair. I have it held down with a loom bracelet rubber band. It will just stay like that forever.

I don’t know why Hasbro isn’t styling the colts with long hair anymore. Although I do appreciate that they didn’t with Shining and Sorin, just because they have “Mohawk” styles to begin with. I wish Big Mac’s hair was long though. I’m so sad they went with the hawk for him as well. But I will NOT re-root him because I feel like he’ll be the same design as Shining. Bleh!!!

This confuses me in many, many ways. o_O lol!!!

But side note, I do LOVE the new Troll dolls (and the movie/show). I have avoided buying them like the plague though because then I’d have to have them all. I love the design on Guy Diamond toys. He’s So sparkly.

He's an Italian variant of Majesty. Isn't he handsome? :)

Oh, I don't know, there's a weird sort of charm leaving his tail erection as is ;)
