quick question regarding surface mail from Eur to US

Hi guys, i was just wondering how long it takes for a package from the netherlands, germany, and france to get to New York, USA via surface mail? I bought a bunch of ponies from 3 different sellers (one in each country) and i thought i was paying airmail. 1 of the sellers sent me an invoice along with shipping and the whole time i thought that it was an airmail shipping price. and the other one had her boyfriend ship it and made a mistake shipping it via surface mail instead of airmail(this one is the one from germany). How long does surface mail takes? I heard some people got it in 4 to 6 weeks but is that true? also how safe is surface mail? I have this mentality that it's not safe shipping via surface mail and that a lot of packages gets lost in the mail this way. I'm just worried because none of these packages are insured, but it's not the financial loss that i'm worried about it's the ponies, lolz. Between the three sellers from those three countries i'm waiting for about 25 ponies and many are variants and nirvanas that i can not afford to loose. I'll be devastated if i loose them. many thanks!

I bought the Valentines Day ponies from a girl in the US (I live in Europe)
I got worried and asked people here how long it should take and they said that after 16 weeks I should get worried...

With me it was the case that I got ripped of. The girl never sent the ponies even though she excused her with that she "accedently" sent them surface instead of airmal - long story short :roll:
But that is nothing yo have to worry about.
It's just that surface can take a long time. Longer than the standard 4-6 weeks that they tell you.
So don't get to worried yet.

As for how safe it is. I'm pretty sure it's just as safe as airmail. It's just that it's a lot slower. I wouldn't worry if I were you. I'm sure all your ponies are gonna turn up sooner or later just fine =)
 
I've gotten things from and sent to; seems to me the longest anything took was 12 weeks.
 
My parents live in the Netherlands, and when they send me things it only takes a couple of weeks. I have considered myself lucky. I hope you got refunded for the air mail
 
painmeblue - yeah the seller was kind of enough to give me a "credit" for future pony purchases from her or get a refund but i thought i might as well just get more ponies from her, lolz, and i already found one that i want from her. :D

Thank you guys for your responses.I was just worried that they might get lost. I guess it'll be a while before my ponies get here and find out for myself how surface mail works, lolz.
 
From Germany I'd say about 2-3 weeks, and I live more than 1500 miles farther west than you do. Airmail got to me in 9 days. So I guess it depends on the size of your city. New York, New York; you shouldnt have ANY problem at all, and could go by the 2 week guideline I ususally judge by
 
i agree with taffie. i'm doing ALOT of shipping right now from west coast canada to mainland europe. and so far everything is arriving :) takes 6-8weeks before you should worry.

thanks guys! I know priority from anywhere in europe to NYC takes 2 to 3 days, which always surprises me. i hope surface mail will be faster too.
 
Hi, I live in the Netherlands and used to do a lot of trading a while back (about a year ago).
If you choose Standard shipping (which is supposed to be air mail) the P.O. wesbite says it takes 8 to 12 days, but in my experience it usually takes around 2 months, and I've had it take more than 3 months.
And I've never lost a package yet *knocks on wood* So I wouldn't worry yet about your package from Holland if I were you :D
