This morning I dyed a G3 pony red using RIT. Of course the dye tinted the eye paint, so a little while ago I began re-painting the eyes. However, I noticed that where I painted white, the dye began coming through and tinting it pink.

I just spent an hour painting the symbols, and I will be darned it this custom doesn't turn out because of the whites of the eyes not coming through. Should I try switching to a heavier acrylic paint?

When I dye my ponies I put frisket over their eyes so the whites don't take the dye but everything else does. Frisket is a masking liquid used in watercolor paintings. You put it where you want no paint and then paint over it, and when the paint is dry you pull off the frisket and the area beneath it is still completely white. If your pony doesn't come out the way you want, you could try that and attempt it again.

Dye doesn't dry for days, sometimes weeks. My way around it was to wait until the dye stopped leeching out of the pony (I tested this by leaving it on a sheet of paper. When I could pull the pony away from the paper after a week without dye on the paper, it was ready).
