I didn't preorder the Funko Discord figure, even though I knew I wanted one, and now they're sold out and I'm kicking myself. Should I preorder Daring Do today, even though it comes out tomorrow? And do people generally find preorders to be a good thing or not? I've always been on the fence about paying for something that I've never seen, as well as paying for something that fair in advance. I got burned on a MLP preorder before.

A lot of times they get sold out but they come back in stock.

So there's basically no point, unless you know you want it for sure? The reason I didn't preorder the figures was because I collect the glitter figures and wanted to see what they looked like before I ordered. There's no advantage of preordering, like a higher chance of getting a variant figure.

Nope not really a lot of people that preorder they preorder a lot so they can have the chance for the glitter variants instead of trying to hunt them down at the store.

^^This. And some (*raises hand*) preorder because they don't have a HT close enough and want to make sure they don't miss out on something they'd like to have and possibly wind up paying "brony mania ebay" prices for it. (Plus, HT's shipping fee is quite reasonable)

Yeah that's what I'm debating about. I also don't have a hot topic close to where I go to college and getting the stuff shipped to me is the only way I can get it. Because I'm a picky collector, I sometimes get stuck paying the crazy brony eBay prices for it, but I have found deals in the past. It's just sort of a pain.

Quite often Companies do Free Returns. If that's the case, that could be an option if you don't like it.
If there is a chance of receiving a variant, I would certainly preorder.

The good thing about the Funko figures is that the regular editions seem to be in ample supply so you can find someone selling for at or around retail price.

Yeah agreed -- I actually just found someone here who has them for retail thankfully! Hunting down the glitter ones sucks, but I do love sparkly things.
