I've recently acquired a G1 pony and she has what looks like like teeny tiny pin pricks, mostly up her front legs and one side of her neck. Can anyone tell me if this due to how the pony was made/deterioration or is this what happens after dirt/mold is scrubbed off? Thank you.

Umm… the title of this thread made me do a double take and a gave me a giggle. Thank you so much for that! I wish you luck with fixing your pony. Skybreeze won’t steer you wrong.

Here are some photos. I hope these are clear enough! I don't know if removing pin dot mould damages ponies' surface or something harsh has been used in cleaning.

The title looked alright when I posted it, but yeah I can see it now:oops:

Your title was fine! :satisfied: I think we were all delighted from our corny sense of humor! I hope it didnt seem like we were making fun. I apologize if so.

Oh! Now that youve posted pictures ive seen this before! My childhood Bowtie has these same spots. She has both had pin dot mold cleaned out from her (with hot water and scraping) AND she has leaked out most of her plasticizer so shes very firm. Im not sure which caused the spots. How does your ponies vinyl feel? Is shes firmer than usual, hard, or normally squishy? Has she been sticky at all?

Ah just to be sure im seeing these pictures right are the spots her same color, or are they black? I thought at first it was shadowed. If its shadows in the pricks then its what my Bowtie has, if its black then its pin dot mold.

Yes, we are often very easily amused, at least I know I am and I love a silly chuckle so please no offense :)

Ya know, looking at the pics if it's not pin dot and it's actually little holes I think my TE Locket might have the same thing. I will have to dig her out and let you know. I'm not too sure what it could be, I called it road rash when I first looked at it on my Locket.

It almost looks like tiny indents caused by sand. I'm likely completely wrong here, but maybe her original owner was a kid that enjoyed a lot of outdoor play with her, and maybe at one point left most of her buried in the sandbox or dirt for a long period of time.

Though, I guess if that were the case she'd probably have tail rust and other problems.

It looks like little holes, the mold could have eaten into the plastic:(
Your title was fine. I just pictured trying to get a paint brush in a crevice while customizing. I’m sorry.

Aw, no need to apologize everyone:redheart: No offence taken. And thanks for the replies:smile:

Yay, I'm not alone:smile:The bottom of her back feet/hooves are a bit sandy brown, but the dark bits in the photos are shadows. It sounds like scraping is the culprit, as I have some plasticized ponies and they don't have this issue. She feels fairly normal but the UK heatwave is softening my ponies today.

The holes are worse on her back hooves which suggests wear and there is some tail rust, so could be!

Upon looking at my Bowtie again, her spots are alll over ber body and dont look like indents, they look like full body noticable pores like someones nose? I think it must be from her plasticizer leakage. Her legs where I scraped all of her pindot mold out dont have any actual deep holes.

So now that Im seeing this, it makes me wonder if someone purposely picked out pindot mold from your pony with a sewing needle? Thats how youd pick out a splinter so maybe someone with less information on pony care tried to pick it out.

Or, @Stellaluna has a really good point too. Maybe she was stored under pressure in a box with debris such as sand or small hard pieces of something.

I pulled out my Locket, man is she in rough shape. But this is the sorta "road rash" I was describing. Does it look similar to you? She has it on the tips of her wings, some of the corners of her feet and these places on her face. I imagine a child playing too rough on the sidewalk but I'm not sure what it could be. Is yours on a TE pony too?

I have seen this on a goodwill lot once. I thought it was cleaned out mold.

Oh my gosh your totally right a sidewalk/pavement/etc totally could do that! My bubbles has this on their feet/legs. I hadnt considered it being related since mine is pretty rough. :surprisepony: Im glad we have this community to brainstorm pony ailments on haha. Im sure we'll figure it out! <3

It looks like she might have been punctured by something. Like someone took a tiny thumbtack and poked little bitsy holes.

They'd have to be very patient and have a light touch to make or clean out so many holes individually. Could be very early stage plasticization?

She has a small scuff on her cheek, a larger hole on her ear and her back hooves that look similar. She's North Star, pink plastic could be more delicate? I'm now thinking it could be a life on the beach or cleaned up with something like sandpaper(!), if pindot mold doesn't leave holes.

It's really nice the interest people have taken in the mystery complaint!

I actually got a pony with the tiny holes like that (she feels a little rough too) and I totally just thought it was like a flaw in her plastic when she was made. Like there had been a bubble there and it popped before she hardened or whatever

We could be on to a new line of ponies made of bubbles;)
