Aww...she's so cute! I remember seeing one of those here in the UK when I was five. I loved her!
I collect photographs of coin operated children's rides (I have over 2000 on record!
), and have seen four different MLP (plus some extra dupliacte ones, and yes, they are officially MLP
) rides over the years - that one, a pink one with blue hair, a yellow one with purple hair, and a green one with pink hair. All of the other colour variants have Starlight's symbol.
They were made in 1994 (obviously following the Pony Tales series) by a UK company called Jolly Rogers. Jolly Rogers went out of business a couple of years ago, and was taken over by Photo Me, who make, sell and hire out children's rides and photo booths among other amusement machines. Photo Me are a US company, and even before they took over Jolly Rogers, they were somehow connected (never really got my head around it!) and used to hire out the JR rides in America.
The ponies originally played a tune as kids rode, but the tune is not an original pony one, even though it's often described as an "original MLP theme tune". The final part of the tune sounds like the original "My Little Pony, My Little Pony, My Little Pony Tales" theme though - maybe it was the tune they originally intended on using for the series.
As for the saddle blanket, and missing logo, I believe that this pony must have been restored and re-sprayed. I don't know why they had to put the saddle blanket over her symbol though
.
Hope that wasn't too much detail for everybody - if anyone has more questions about the pony rides, or any other coin operated rides for that matter, I'll be more than happy to answer what I can.
