So I've been away for a while, but I'm back now, and wanting to get to know the newer "faces" around here, so I thought what better way to get to know someone than to find out what really annoys the pants off ya!( pony wise of course)

Personally I hate, on the verge of insanity hate, the term "cutie mark" it's a symbol! I get why they call it that, I saw the episode, and yeah it makes sense I guess but REALLY? It just sounds rediculous!

So what fills you with the pony rage?

I have to agree with you about the whole "cutie mark" thing. Every time I hear/read it, I gag a little, lol! I think it's a case of Hasbro needing a term to market & copyright since the word "symbol" is too generic. But seeing that term widely used by collectors really gets on my nerves.

Haha I agree symbol is too generic... But especially when people describe G1s on sale pages... No G1 EVER had a " cutie mark".

They could have come up with something less.. I don't want to say child like because after all this is a children's show lol. But less.. Unimpressive.

Talent Tag?
Soul symbol
Desire design
Flank flag lol

Alot of things Bronies do....

People who just get into G4 and flip out about older gens, saying things like "EW, they're so ugly!" and "That's not Rainbow Dash!"

Garage sale people who write the price in sharpie on the ponies

Overpriced EBay lots with one pony you realllyy want, and everything else is fakies.

"Snowflake" on Friendship is Magic. Gross.

When people ruin perfectly good older gen ponies for customs.

Hagglers who act like know it alls. "Ma'am, you don't understand, that's vintage, people collect those. It's rare.$20" .....-_- yes, I know people collect them...but nothing at a garage sale should be $20 especially if it's that dirty ...

The flaws you discover after buying a pony online.

Bronies bug me too...I think they go way over the top and past weird.
I also dislike it when a G4 fan says that a certain character is completely wrong or is "not" someone because they have no idea the show originated roughly 30 years ago. I guess that can't be helped with younger kids these days.
Oh! And I'm gonna add the look of G4's, and G3.5's.

I understand if a child thinks something is wrong.. Like applejack. Only knowing FIM AJ you'd think g1 AJ was a bit of a wuss... Personally I think g4 AJ is a bit of a hill billy lol

I LOVE when you go to a garage sale and someone tries to sell you a cotton candy with a hair cut, covered in mud for 30 bucks .. Makes me LAUGH so loud.. In their face.... Hahaha

I hate when people are condescending about my collecting. I'm 23, and I look a lot younger. I get that. But saying to me "This pony is probably older than you..." does not make me want to buy something from you! Okay, yes, with many G1's that's true since I was born in 1988, but certainly not a G3, so don't preface your sales pitch with that- especially if most of the ponies you're selling have chew marks, as chew marks are my most hated flaw (cleaning is a lot easier than amputating!).

My pony peeves.... I guess bronies a lot lol, with the whole "EW THEY'RE UGLY AND FAT" Well I think all ponies are cute! And hoe stupid they get >.< but i like how many artworks they buy from me lol! XD And overpriced ponies that you really really love, like at the moment I LOVE LOVE LOVE Brazil Parasol, but soo expensive D: I could afford her if I hadn't lost my job... but like ones that are not rare variants and they're getting sold for a lot, its annoying lol.
And I guess how others see it as a stupid thing to collect ponies.

When a G1's head and body don't match. It just... makes them look like Frankenpony to me...

Bronies... I tolerate... Creepy Rule 34 Bronies... not so much. 9_9 Srsly guys? OH and the Bronies who are all self righteous with their pony knowledge. I've had some comment on my deviantart pics asking why I drew certain ponies together, and why I called them their Hasbro ~given names rather than fan~given ones... (Sorry, Minuette sounds MUCH better than COLGATE!!!)

'Cutie Mark' also gets on my nerves, but it's been called that since G3's as I recall.

Sellers who list at crazy high prices, and have minimal descriptions, bad quality pictures, and get totally offended when you ask for more specifics. GRR! Hate the evilBay...

Ink and highlighter marks.... They make me sad. Especially on white ponies.

When you're watching a pony auction, and no one bids all week, then just as you decide to bid, someone else does and their proxy bid is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than you'd wanna pay. More hate the evilBay...

When a pony you need for a set completion is a sought~after one, and you are sad because you know you can't drop that much money on a pony, otherwise your husband will kick you in the pants... (In my case, this is Red Roses... le sigh... I can only hope to trade for one someday.)

I remember you Mavi! :)

Gory fan fics. C'mon, it's a kid show.

That, and when I see pony stuff in Walmart clearance..just to see they took maybe 50 cents off and slapped a clearance sticker on it.

edit: oh, and overpriced exclusives like glow in the dark Zecora. I don't want to pay $15 for something that should only be like $7. TRU is all over the place in my area, and so are the Zecoras.

Personally, I don't mind it when people call them cutie marks on G3 or G4 ponies, but it's annoying when people call a G1 or G2 pony's symbol a cutie mark. :|

When bronies say "Just give the show a chance!!" about FiM, but when they hear about someone who collects older generations they say "That's so stupid! How can anyone like something so stupid?!"

Bronies who say that the older generations of ponies had no character development. They're usually talking about the G3 cartoon, which were based on the toys. Of course toys aren't going to have more character development than what can fit on a backcard. And the 80's cartoons were actually a lot edgier than FiM.

Also, bronies who make fun of G3 Rainbow Dash.

I agree I don't get the whole "down with G1s" thing. I feel its like disrespecting the past. Just because the future ponies are so "great." I also don't get how people can think ponies are stupid to collect when almost everyone collects something.

My biggest pet peeve is pony cancer... why do some of the most prettiest ponies I love get it I really don't understand. I feel I almost can't like any favorite ponies without one of them coming down with something ><:

oh and tail rust ugh... I feel so sorry for a "blackened" pony with bad insides.. metal tail washers are just way too cheap.

Zombie ponies--either custom or pictures. No offense to those who've made/drawn them, I don't like zombies at all. There's just something even more horrific about something so cute being zombified *shudders*.

Head and body mismatch on G1s. I don't like it on G4s either, but with two different types of plastic there will never be a perfect match--they could be a LOT better about making the difference less dramatic on a lot of ponies though.

Cutie mark--I'll never call it that! Even on G4s. It will always be a symbol to me.

Tinsel in pony hair. To me, it doesn't add aything to the pony's look and it doesn't have the strength and resilency of normal pony hair. It also makes the pony toy look LESS like her animated/drawn counterpart (Star Catcher being a prime example).

G3.5--'Nuff said.

I very much dislike the term "nirvana" for identifying the non-US/UK ponies (slight generalization, I know). I find that to be hugely disrespectful to the Hindu and Buddhist religions. I'm not the only one since the TP voted to name our forum "Variant Valley!"

I know the terms "alternate" and "variant" don't always capture the meaning, though, because some people grew up with those ponies and they never thought of them as variants!

No particular order...
1. tail rust
2. frizz
3. creepy bronies (not the ones who like the show for what it is)
4. blue pen marks (and anything a magic eraser can't get rid of)
5. G3.5
6. the G3 3D symbols
7. So Softs with just enough flocking missing that they look bad and you have to deflock
8. common ponies listed as rare, HTF, etc.
9. crinkled tinsel
10. regrind
11. ponies listed as near mint that really are not
12. Megan (dodges flying fakies)
13. Twilight Sparkle
14. So Soft newborns

OK . . . that's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more.

My pony peeve is simple.

No loyalty to the people of this site that welcomed them in with open arms, at all.

Rather than offering rare ponies to this site first for sale,
people go straight to ebay first, and then tell us about it so we will drive up the price for them.
In the end they seldom go to members of our family here, and get sold to outsiders.

I myself made it my mission on (Action Figure insider) 5yrs ago to get people their
missing JLU rares cheap, rather than let them go to outsiders for ebay prices.
Someday when I get better connected with the pony world, I will try to do the same thing here.

I'm going to have to agree here. I never sell ponies on ebay at all. Why would you want to? You have a community here that is willing to pay a fair price for any pony, a good feedback system and a new owner for you item that you know will cherish it. I often refer ebay/gumtree sellers here if they have lots that had no bids or interest. Some older collectors have no idea places such as these forums exist! I list my ponies here, and then if I see wanted ads I send them a link, often resulting in a sale, or a new membership here. If we keep it going, we'll have more ponies available to our community of collectors and less on ebay charging ridiculous prices.

Another pony peeve of mine is hasbro's complete QC fail lately. If shipping wasn't a complete rip-off atm, I'd just buy loose, already checked ponies!

And their distribution wierdness. Ponies available some places and not others, store exclusives and whatever... TRU exclusives are just stupid... there are hardly any TRU stores around here... maybe one per state??! grr... it's not like they make money on resale value!

Box hair. it doesn't even look good in the G4 boxes, let alone when you pull it out!

Oh I have a few, sorry no offence to some - just my humble opinion;

1. Haircuts, who lets kids play with scissors, I know it was the 80's but cmon!
2. Ink marks, ouch!
3. Megan! Yuck! Glad someone else agrees.
4. People who talk about their ponies as if they have actual lives. I love my ponies and ill joke that they have parties when we go out but I'm under no illusions that they're having adventures together, sorry! I just find it a very alien concept, can't get my head around it.
5. Having a go about the different generations, and its obvious G1 is best anyway ;) - joking!
6. Complaining you were outbid or were sniped last second, if you wanted it that much then bid higher, it just means someone wanted it more than you did! That's life for ya!

Oh fun! I get to let out some steam!!!

Rule 34 Bronies... it's an animated show about ponies. Find a real girlfriend.

The cutie mark thing.... Okay, fine, aim for the younger crowd. Call it that. But this MLP Mommy will never call it anything but a symbol. Speaking of which... symbols on ONE side? Re-releasing the same pony with the same symbol on the OTHER side?

The trade-off of "MLP mommies" for "Pegasisters." Ugh.... NO thank you.

Zecora.... she was 10.00 one week, and the next week, jacked up to 15.00. I don't care if she IS a "collector's Edition".... she is still about the same size as the current G4 ponies. Price her as such.

Tail rust (plastic washers, anyone?), pony cancer and chew marks. Though I'll admit that when I pulled mine out of storage this past summer, I found my fair share of all of the above. How about regrind??? :doh5B15D:
Being told that because I'm 35, I need a grownup hobby, need to grow up, why are you collecting toys (at your age)? etc. Easy... they make me happy. My grandmother saw me working on another poster's ponies from here that I'm working on for a work swap and she FINALLY said, "They look really beautiful. You love doing this, I can tell.... how much are you getting paid?" Instead of, "Oh... more ponies to clean? Where'd THESE come from now?" As a result from this positive reception, I'm thinking of doing this on the side for those who don't want to or simply can't deal with the chemicals it takes to deflock and deglue a pony. It's therapy for me, and it will help some of the collectors out there. Yeah, I'm 35 and I love working on bringing ponies back to their original beauty. Plus, it makes me feel younger than I am. :Tree-Huggin:

Ink is tolerable, but highlighter is NOT.

G 3.5

The SIZE of the G4's compared with the past generations.... and we paid (well, our parents and other family members paid in some cases) the same amount for larger ponies.

Plastic clothes.... um, no.

People trying to pass fakies on as real.... people at swap meets trying to charge more than an old, dirty pony is worth, no matter the size... (I had a lady charge me 1.00 per pony, but some were standard size, some were mcdonald's sized, and some were G4 size. Um......:surprise:)

Flutter pony wings. :(

People charging sometimes 3.00 per pony shoe plus 2.00 shipping on ebay. Come on, man!
