I have a question about the custom contests for this year's fair. One contest is for celebrating the 25th anniversary of MLP, but there's also another for Hasbro-inspired customs. So I'm confused as to how to interpret the 25th anniversary category? What kind of things would be acceptable in that category? I can't really think of anything that would go in the 25th anniversary category that wouldn't also fit in the Hasbro-inspired category.

How are you all interpreting it? Especially if you are planning to enter?

I kind of thought of the 25th Anniversary theme as...well, any way you would celebrate 25 years of something you love. The Hasbro inspired category is for remakes and "inspired by's". The Anniversary category would be a good way to show off what 25 years of ponies means to you. Does that make sense? I feel like I'm rambling. :p

Thanks, I sort of get what you're saying, I think. I guess I'm just not sure how to express that abstract idea in a pony in a way that will make it clearly intelligible as an anniversary pony, without doing something like a Hasbro remake... I don't know if I'm being clear...

I guess I mean that I can see how to do a 25th anniversary pony, but without resorting to referencing past Hasbro creations, I'm afraid that the anniversary pony I might make would either be trite (like too literal-- candles and numbers and whatnot) or too abstract and off-topic to be clearly interpreted as a 25th anniversary pony.

I guess I was just wondering about how other people were interpreting it. I have some ideas, but I'm afraid of them being seen as too "off-topic" for the contest, if ya know what I mean.

OH, and one other thing-- I just wanted to make sure that by entering customs in the contest(s), we customizers still retain ownership of them, right? Like they don't become property of Hasbro or the Fair, do they?

The customs at the Fair are all yours honey! If you bring it with you, you'll be taking it backing home with you. So no worries there.

As far as the Anniversary thing, I guess "celebration" might be a good way to describe it. At least that's how I interpret it. It really is the most broad category and open to so much. I think we will have LOTS of differences in the entries. Honestly, do what you want. If it fits the category in your mind, no one can really say it's not in the right spot. Right?
