I have had my first confirmed case of.....PONY CANCER. Poor lucky has been stricken with it. He had been isolated in a plastic bag to prevent anyone else, but now I have to check all the babies he was hanging around with to make sure he hasn't spread it. Oh dear. WHY HIM WHY NOT A FAKIE OH PONY GODS.

I have always been told in the pony community that cancer is not going to spread from pony to pony. Mold, however, does. I have kept all my ponies very close together for years and years. No one has gotten cancer from anyone else. I do not separate them. Plastic Bags will cause moisture build up. If you use a plastic bag to store a vintage pony you might want to change out silica packets regularly. In fact when I mail a pony in a plastic bag, I always put a hole in it. Hasbro also did this with their mail orders.

Oh no! Poor baby lucky. :(

Sorry to hear about Lucky.

Exactly what Tula said, though. Cancer will not spread between ponies. But if they are kept in a warm humid climate with little air circulation, it can encourage various problems like cancer, mold, etc to develop.

Has anyone tried injecting the cancer site with acetone? I had a friend who swore by this and never attempted it myself. My critters would be glad for me to be shooting up someone besides them...

I do that I treat it with acetone, but it never really removes all the stains. I just wanted to drop in and say that Lucky is prone to discoloration. Mine is a mess and he didn't start out that way. This is why I chose him for the Halloween costume contest. He is all covered up now in his Sully suit and he is staying that way.

It's that particular color of blue, sadly. It's why you see so many Quarterbacks with brown spots all over them. They won't spread to other ponies because it's Lucky's plastic itself deteriorating. Certain conditions may speed the process and ponies stored with him may be affected by that, but it won't spread like an illness.
