After returning home from Toronto with about 400 ponies in tow, I had to work on a containment strategy. They were all over my house. The struggle is real. I have a large one bedroom condo with a "den". I use the term den loosely, because it's really just a narrow storage area in my unit. Anyway, I've spent the last two days clearing out the area. My bike is now homeless and I'm selling my antique drop leaf table, BUT, the ponies have a new home. They aren't organized yet and I'll have to go through and clean and groom all my G1's and they are suffering from serious overcrowding, but they are contained and no longer strewn all over the house.

Looks terrific!

That is fabulous. My ponies are all crammed into containers and an armoire. So that is a wonderful set up you have there. I wish I could do that. I would have far less trouble finding the ponies I wanted with me for the day.

...That is not a 'den'. That is a closet.

That said, your collection looks LOVELY! :) You've got a beautiful collection of ponies, there. :D ... And hey, at least there's still a little room to expand. ;3 [lol]

I know, right? That's Vancouver real estate. It was sold as one bedroom, plus den. The picture doesn't show the full length, but it is not much bigger. It's 7 feet by 4 feet. I've also had to move eight storage bins back in under the shelves at the back, but I'm selling a bunch of stuff on craigslist to make space. Next trip to Toronto I'm bringing the rest of the ponies home (about 200).

While I was typing this, I received a message from the guy who sold me the white shelves. They are from Ikea and discontinued, but his brother in law will sell me three more for $60 for all three. Whoot. The ponies will be able to breathe!

Wow...:surprisepony:the real estate agents need to be shown what a real den looks like.

Heh... I know. I'm not in the market, thankfully... but out of curiosity I've looked at some of the newer builds/suites, and... there is just no space. In any of them. x.x;

That's a good price for all those shelves, though! They display the ponies nicely. :D

I'm in an old building, which is the only reason I have any space at all. I have 750 square feet and a large outdoor patio, which is where my bike is going to have live now that the ponies took over the storage room.

Even for an old building, that room is tiny. o.o But hooray for older buildings and the more space they have! :D If your bike is going outside, maybe you can look into getting a tarp or something, to protect it from rain?
I'm looking into getting a lock box storage. It's a $1500 mountain bike and you know what the bike theft rate is like here.

Ha! You ponies crack me up. Although it was sold as a den, it's not. It's an in unit storage area, probably intended to be a pantry. I can't wait until I get my new shelves and I can properly display my ponies. Thanks Ponygeek.

That looks great, and such a gorgeous collection. :ponylove:

I’ve never seen so many G1s together in one place. It looks like a small MLP museum! :D

Really? That's not even close to my full collection. :) The babies and flutters are still in the closet until the new shelves come in and I still have at least another 60-70 in Toronto.

I've been cleaning and grooming all my G1's this weekend when I've been home. I have a few hundred to get through. It's going surprisingly quickly, but they are mostly clean and styled. I'm tidying up some of my factory curl gals. I can't wait until I get the three new shelves.

My friend in Toronto has a Pony Room in her basement. Some of the long time members here will likely know her, she used to go by Twinkler and now she goes by ThePonyRoom. She has been on a few shows about collectors. She's an awesome pony friend with an incredible collection. Mine used to be larger, but I stopped actively collecting the last 10 years and she kept her collection growing. I'll see if I can load a video I took recently. It's amazing.

Wow. Now you're saying you have even more...I need to sit down for a second! :D

Good luck with the rest of your cleaning. I imagine it's a lot of work, but very fun and rewarding. Your friend sounds fantastic too. :)

Your display looks so nice, you could charge people to visit! I mean, I'd visit the Vancouver Pony Museum/ "Den" lol.

It looks great, having them all gathered together. The seem to be having a convention of sorts. Do you ever hear them chatting when you're outta the room? :D
