Pinkie Pie & Rainbow Dash Now at Build a Bear!

The fact remains, what someone posts on Tumblr and posts here may be very different things. I know, personally, that I would be angry if someone I knew on FB or Tumblr started passing around my information without asking me first. It's simply not your information to pass around.

I don't have an "issue with you," I'm saying that, in this specific instance, there is no need to post someone else's photos; she is a member here, if she chose to she could share her photos in this thread. If you want to share photos so much, I recommend you buy the ponies and take some of your own, instead of taking other people's photos without permission, or even attempting to ask for said permission.

A) I believe this conversation should have been private. Why didn't you pm her?

B) Clearly whoever owned those pictures chose to post them on a public sharable site. FB & Tumblr are two entirely different websites. FB, on most accounts is & should be private only if its your personal account. Now, I don't use tumblr so I don't know if here is a way to not allow your blogs/pictures to be shared or spread elsewhere but considering people can follow her clearly it is not private. Therefore not a private picture regardless of circumstance.

C) Tumblr is not DeviantArt or FB. On both those websites, there is a rule that photos posted on account owners (not group owners) belong to the original poster and it is illegal to claim things posted there as your own, although the actual websites can use the drawings in promotional things around the site and people can share artwork with proper credit regardless of the owner or the owner's permission (it's in the user agreement). Tumblr does not have that. Everything is free reign. Asking, would have been the polite thing to do but was not necessary unless the original owner specified it.

On topic:
I love these new ponies. I went to see them on my birthday, I was going to ask for them as my one present but my parents had already got me something without me knowing. I'm definitely saving up though, they were so cute in person...I hope I can pick one up before they sell out..

The same reason you didn't PM me all of this - because I feel this behavior is inappropriate, and worthy of being pointed out. You make fair points, and I agree that Tumblr doesn't provide automatic copyright protection to photos. (However, that doesn't simply make them 'free reign' to steal. They still belong to the photo-taker.) I feel it is impolite, at best, to repost someone's photos here without asking. These are not some random, unknown user's photos from a chan site or Google; this is a known user who could come here and post her own photos if she so chose. Now if she comes here, she will have no photos to post, because they are already there, and she doesn't even get the credit or kudos that other users are giving her photos. Heck, she might not even see the kind words she is receiving for her super-cute hot dog costume!

ok let's keep this on topic. I'd hate to close this thread or have to issue warning points.

The photos seem to have been posted for reference purpose only, with no harm intended. If the owner of the photos asks for them to be taken down, then we will cross that bridge when we get there. Right now everyone is excited about these new ponies and just wants to see what they look like.

Actually, I didn't pm you because you had already made the issue public, there was no taking that back so by replying to you publicly (as the conversation was not between you and me unlike yours with her) I was hoping others would see and learn some of the rules of these sites. I know user agreements are long but it's important to read them and since i did might as well share.
I do agree, it was impolite and the pictures do certainly belong to the phototaker but unfortunately because of where it was posted sharing it elsewhere is allowed by the "laws" of that website.
And if I can point out two more things:
One can't really be aware of every member on this site..there's a lot of members! I didn't know sher clop was on here..
Also, Phekzhen actually did give credit. There is at least something to be said of that. So at least one could locate sher clop and let her know how adorable dash looks as a hotdog

EDIT: I'm sorry I didn't see the replies from the mod!

I got my Pinkie Pie on Monday. My fiancé took the day off so we went to the mall. I have been way out of the pony loop since getting engaged (we got a new puppy the day after and he is a handful), so I didn't even know BABW was officially doing MLP, although I remember the survey a few months ago.

They have the MLP theme available as a sound pack to put in one of the hooves, and of course I couldn't resist.
