...sticky-outy hair on a custom? You know how the hair kind of sticks straight out from the neck and rear without the nice droop to the ground and across/down the neck when you first rehair (or maybe that's not normal and I'm doing something wrong for it to get that way?)?

I tried wetting it and wrapping it around the neck and legs to dry, but it still pops straight out. :(

Advice appreciated. Thanks

I usually just wet it and comb it then put bobby pins in it to weigh it down (sometimes with full body repaints wet hair touching the pony will leave marks in the sealant =/ )
I can usually get the appropriate "swoop" with just bobby pins though =) After it dries I comb it again and then if there's not enough swoop I usually tie it around her neck with a rubber band for a day or so.

Thanks, ladies... I will try your methods and see what happens. Here she is in all her messiness. She's rough around the edges (still need a lot of practice painting *and* hairing, as you can see) but DB's happy with her "as is" (she's for him) other than the hair sticky-outyness. And fortunately the moon lends itself to the chunky look. Heh. We're gonna call her "Goodnight Moon". :) Notice that the butt had to be haired like the mane... @-@ I was afraid to try to make a new hole to fill in the gap(s) where the holes are unevenly spaced.

A dip in really hot water should work for you too as long as it is not a color that will bleed like chartruese. (spelling is probably wrong)

I had to document this since you asked just before I needed to do it myself XD

And that's just water straight from the tap for like... 3 hours

Oh, that's a nice blow-by-blow! Thanks!

Now I have to ask about the tail, though--mine sticks straight out even when she's standing up (Maybe b/c it had to be haired w/ the rehair-tool?). Yours doesn't (in the before pic) look too bad to start with (I'm guessing a "standard" no-tool tail will fall more nicely that way, since all the weight is together in one big clump).

I'm gonna give this a whirl, and do bobby pins on the tail, too (or something... maybe a soft rubber band near where it's attached to avoid a flat "crimp", and then a bobby pin or two to weight it down. If that's not enough then I'll give her the conditioner treatment and try again. :)

(Note to self: G3 fakie babies with rehair tool-needing butts = :naughty: )

Yeah she has a real tail so that's probably why it's working out better. You could always wrap a pony tail holder (no pun intended XDD) around the tail hair (loosely) so the plugs get trained to stay together.
