Oh, do I have updates for y'all!
As for the ponies in the last update, here they are post-styling! I'm especially proud of Puzzlemint.
Now for an update I've been especially excited to share: the restoration of the Apple Delight family! Well, mostly Baby and Daddy. Mommy was just a little dirty and her mane was a bit frizzy; she had a standard cleaning and styling and was good as new!
Baby Apple Delight had the driest mane and tail I've ever seen on a pony. I could count the individual strands from ten feet away (probably helped by being farsighted, but I digress). So after many unsucessful attempts to heal her 'do with heat, I resorted to an experimental treatment: dipping her mane and tail in pure, undiluted fabric softener, wrapping them in thin sheets of magic eraser for max absorption, and leaving her to sit for a few days. And surprisingly, it worked wonders! A cold-water wash was all she needed after that, then onto styling she went.
Daddy was a project I started on months ago and then abandoned during my hiatus. I decided it was finally time to give him the luscious mane he deserved! If I was left bald and headless for half a year, I'd at least want that sort of courtesy granted to me. It was my first full rehairing job, and after many broken needles and much weeping and gnashing of teeth, I got the hang of it, and I'd say I did pretty good.
Look at this lovely family! Ah, I'm so proud of them~
I've got some more ponies that need new manes, but until their hair arrives, my current goal: untangling the extremely tangled manes on my plushies. It's a process that takes an average of an hour and a half per plush so far. Fabric softener could be renamed Skin Drierer, because when I finish I just wanna soak my fingers in a big ole' bucket of melted shea.
(I'm so sad I forgot to get Before shots of BAB Twilight, her mane was just a solid wall of tangles. I honestly didn't think I'd be able to make it work. Fluttershy's probably gonna get the same treatment as Baby Apple Delight, because those ends are BEGGING for help.)
And, excellent news: Jazz Hooves arrived last night! I tried styling her to look more show-accurate. I'm not happy with her mane and will probably redo it, but the tail is perfect.
