just wondering the best way to use oxyclean, i didn't find the instructions on the back very helpfull, how much soap should i use? how much oxyclean? should i just put the ponies through the washing machine with it? or should i soak them in it and leave them for a while? what's the best way to remove pen and marker that has been there for YEARS?

Don't put your ponies in the washing machine. ;)

Hmmm... oxy will not remove pen, or marker stains. There are special cleaners formulated to remove set in stains. (remove-zit, you can read more about it at TwinPines - Products, or some people use acne cream with peroxide to slowly fade out stains, or sun light to fade out stains)

Oxy is good for getting some dinginess out of So Soft ponies. You'll need a bucket, fill it with hot water and with the little scoop add oxy until the water is all bubbly/fizzy. I no longer have my container of it, I was sure the proportion of water to oxy was printed on the back. :S
You can leave the SS ponies soaking for a while, but don't leave them overnight or for hours on end. you'd want to avoid giving them tail rust.

aren't you supposed to add soap with the oxyclean??? also do you mean sunlight detergent or the actual light from the sun?

you can use the oxyclean on its own :D oh and sunlight as in actual light from the sun

Taken from the FAQ this is my method with Oxy Clean:
I recommend this method it can work wonders on ponies.
Get a large pot of water and place in a scoop or two or Oxy-Clean or something along those lines. Let the water come to a boil and then toss the pony in. Let her or him relax. This is spa time for them and they're getting a lovely ex foliation. After a few minutes pull the pony out with a pair of tongs. Grab a nearby towel and give them a good scrubbing. Most of the dirt and dust that has been absorbed into the plastic should come off. Ink pen should come off too! The only thing this will not do is remove things like permanent marker or glue. Sometimes the pony might get flattened or come out mishapped. Relax put the pony back in the water and she or he should plop back into place. I have tried this on Princess Ponies and the medallion didn't change or nothing but that may just be dumb luck. I have not tried this on so softs at least not yet....so if that works tell the rest of us! As a fair warning I also recommend that after about and hour or so of cleaning your ponies like this it is a good idea to wipe off your ponies with some cool water to get the Oxy-clean residue off of them. Otherwise the pony will look like it has been playing in Comet or worse....... And make sure you clean your cleaning area too the powder will show up after about an hour or so and will look like powdery white spots. As an addendum give the ponies a good shampooing afterwards. Oxyclean can really dry out their hair.

sounds awesome thanks for the help

I wanted to add that never put a so soft pony in boiling water because it can remove some or all of the flocking. Glitter symbols also never boil them. The boiling technique is used for smooze and ingrained dirt. It works really well for that too :)

Just soak so soft ponies in a bucket or even a sink with a scoop or 2 of oxyclean for a few hours. it will clean their flocking.

Can Oxyclean stop pony cancer from spreading?

pony cancer is caused by a mold in the plastic I think. I had a pony spontaneously get a cancer spot and then I used bleach cleaners to stop it and years later it hasnt spread.

Pony "cancer" will not spread from pony to pony. if multiple ponies in a collection are getting it, that is a sign that there are poor storage conditions. (no need to boil them or damage them futher)

poor storage that will cause it:
excessive humidity
dampness
(no-no's for collection storage. cold cellers, dank basements, storage sheds the garage or attics.)

poor storage that will cause fading, and in extreme cases brittle hair.
excessive light
sun light
florescent light

Keep your ponies in a dry spot at normal room temperature. :) curtains that block out light are great too! fading pink hair isn't the only colour that fades, it just fades way faster!
