10/21: He's on eBay!! OOAK Custom My Little Pony OWL GRIFFIN G3 L@@K! - eBay (item 160496504641 end time Oct-28-10 10:08:45 PDT)

I have to toot my own horn on this one. I am so superduperstoked at how great this turned out!!!!

Sunny Daze was such a sad little pony, her head had mysteriously become dingy and sticky after being stored away for a while, and she begged to be reborn. Now she told me that she wanted to be something awesome, so I had to oblige her. So, the creative sparks started flying, and before I knew it, the OWL GRIFFIN was born. Her marking are modeled after that of a Long Eared Owl and a Bobcat. (I heart owls!)

She was stripped to the vinyl and heavily sculpted with Apoxie Sculpt. Her wings have wireform support and she was painted with acrylics and seald with a satin varnish.

I want to sell her, so I will be entertaining offers this week. I am hoping to fund the admission price at a Haunted House or two since I haven't been to one in years... PM me if interested!!!

Thankies!!! The only thing I wish I had done differently is the face. I wish I had made it flatter, like a regular owl... but my bestie says it makes it look more mythical, so I guess it's ok.

And I also feel like 'she' should be a 'he'!

Okay, that is one fantastic pony/owl/bobcat! He is fabulous! The work that must have gone into making him... Awesome job!

You did an amazing job. It's hard to tell the sculpted detail of the wings because of that crazy detailed paint job. I LOOOOVEEE the legs, a lot of people that do griffin ponies try to do talons on the front and it just looks weird. The owl head is just dead on.

I considered doing owl talons on the front legs, but when I pictured it in my head, it just looked well... uhmm... like an owl birthing a bobcat?? Yeah.
