Hello,

I was looking at dollyhair.com and they have "nylon" hair, which they claim is the same deal as MLP hair, and it's available for customizing now.

http://www.dollyhair.com/nylonhair.htm

Is it? Has anyone ordered it/tried it? Know anything at all about it? please let me know! I hate de-tailing a pony.

Thanks!

Hmmmm

Looks interesting but a bit pricer then restoredoll hair - although that dark green poison ivy hair looks tempting - perhaps a match for those reverse gusties etc.? I'm just not sure how the lengths would compute into pony hair since I assume you would need a lot more hair to do an entire pony then to reroot a Barbie. It says on there that you can request a sample of the hair - that would probably be the way to go if you're unsure of how it compares to real MLP hair.

i'm pretty sure pony hair is made of nylon, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will have the same feel as pony hair... so i'd agree with getting a sample for comparison first.

pony hair

I went ahead and emailed to request a sample of a few of their colors as well as to ask what length you would need to order to rehair a MLP and here's the reply:

I'll be happy to send you the samples once the nylon hair comes in. It looks like it will be October 15th or so.

For a MLP, a "Barbie medium length" hank should be enough. However, you'll want the tail to be longer than the mane if you're rooting the pony the way Hasbro did, so you'll want to be able to cut the hair as you see fit. Therefore, when you place your order, in the message box ask me to send the hair in its original 38" length, which is the longest that my hair spinning machine is able to produce. Then you'll be able to cut it as you need to and won't be stuck with a hank of hair that's too short for the tail.

I shall compare the hair samples to the non-bald ponies I have on hand and see how it rates I guess. So far I've tried most anything I can think of for hair anyway - restoredoll, ragdolly, custompony, G3 cords, and a whole bunch of other odds and ends. It still looks a little out of my price range though.
