He's finally finished! Oy, this pony has given me nothing but trouble since day one. I'm beginning to think it IS because I used a unicorn *Sparkler* as my bait for Neji here, and sliced off her elicorn *which is now sitting in my customs hair box*.
Pulling Sparklers old mane plugs out of her head was a pain, even with giving her a buzz cut first. Then slicing my finger when using the heated Xacto blade to cut her elicorn off.
The baking was the easy part with adding Neji's forehead protector and his frown, as was rehairing.
I've learned now that to do a seamless neck to body, just spend a few more dollars and get the air dry sculpy... do noooooot use rubber cement. Paint CRACKS like crazy when painted over the rubber cement. Xx;. Ended up ripping all that painted rubber cement off him. Used crazy glue to get his head to keep from tilting too much to the left *his new mane weighs him down a bit*, but my crazy glue container needed to have a needle pushed through it to get to the glue. Stupid me didn't think to use plier to pull the needle back out.. used my teeth and almost glued my lips shut. Xx;. Sat rubbing acetone on my lips for about an hour *poniesyeah and her bf were giggling their behinds off when I told them on the phone. >///<*.
Repainted the paint holes left over from the rubber cement till I got it as smooth as I could with the white base acrylic paint. Finally got around to finishing the rest of his body painting yesterday, made the mistake of rinsing the flesh tone paint I mixed from my paint tray too early on. When I went to paint the Hyuuga forehead symbol on his hips, it turned out the fanart I was basing it off of was WRONG *found out an hour later when I finally found a full front view of Neji's uncovered forehead*. I couldn't for the life of me remix the EXACT skin tone I made earlier, so I just painted on his pants instead.
Did his back and fore leg wraps, used a glow in the dark medium over the blue violet in his eyes, the bit of his symbol showing on his forehead, his zipper on his shirt, and the Hyuuga symbol on his left hip.
Thought all the troubles were done now, but..I was wrong. I took him outside an hour ago to spray the sealer on him... and the silver enamel I used on his forehead protector did not like the spray I was using, so it started ruuuunning ;~;. Luckily it only ran onto the black of the headband, so I just repainted the headband, repainted the protector, and just touched around the repainted areas of the headband with a clear top coat polish, leaving the protector untouched.
I think I cleaned him up okay after all that though I'm noticing the silver tip from one of his straps brushed against the flesh tone of his left leg a little. Enamels a pain in the rear to work with... Xx;.
In the end though, here he is. Took some outside shots of him in our little stone garden.
Painted with Art Craft and Applebarrel acrylics, Testors silver enamel, and Speedball Super Black India Ink. Rehaired with Kiss of Death MLP nylon hair from http://www.dollyhair.com. Sealed with Krylon UV - Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating.
Heheh, my sister-in-law laughingly calls me crazy for willing putting myself through all that just to customize a My Little Pony, but hey, I'm stubborn. X3
