I posted a question in general discussions to find out if South African variants are worth anything, and guess what I found out?
My poor Sunlight from my childhood, that has a balding tail and permenant marker all over, that I saw as a bait pony, and gave to my kids to play with. She turns out to be one of only three recorded, green South African Sunlights! How is that for a find?! Not sure how much she would be worth in the state she is in, but I feel like doing a little dance from joy:smilepony: Its almost better than owning a Mimic:winkpony: hahaha! Just a joke:winkpony:

Oooo! Cool! Right-on!

I'm with ilikebothg1andg4ponies! I'd love to see her!

sunlight

Much loved definitely, but weirdly enough not one of my favourites:LOL:
As far as I heard there is only 3 recorded, not sure if mine is now the 3rd or 4th? Crazy hey?! I can also only find one photo on Google search.......... I'm now trying to get the marker off, and then when she is pretty again she will go up for sale, as I prefer to collect baby ponies rather than adults. And then she can retire in a nice prominent spot of a more serious collector's cabinet, to be adored like she deserves:winkpony:

Alright! Makeover time! :winkpony:

Aww, poor girl! I would suggest putting conditioner in the hair and letting it sit for awhile, then carefully comb. Her hair looks very damaged.
For the ink, I think the only way it's going to come off is with sun.

Sun-fading will fade many stains completely away, and is usually the next thing collectors try before harsher chemicals.. Cover everything but the affected area (especially hair, symbols, etc.) with aluminum foil or paper towel and leave the pony in direct sunlight for as long as needed. This can be weeks or months and works best in areas that are particularly sunny. While covering the pony with aluminum foil is quite popular (they call them pony-tatos like baked potato), this can have a yellowing effect on their bodies. No such problems have been reported when using paper towel, napkins, and similar items. (this is from the mlppreservationproject website).

Good luck!

You must've loved her ALOT as a kid..... her hair looks REALLY frizzy.... you must have combed her hair ALOT! That's awesome, especially since she was a childhood pony! Congratulations!

so lucky  I think she is worth something at least, because she is so rare even though the condition.. but I would not sell her ever :winkpony:

I have had luck getting marker and biro off with baby oil because they are oil based and it acts as a solvent. If that fails try acetone. If that fails try magic eraser. Sunfading can be tricky because it can bring up a brown discoloration that you really will be stuck with forever. But see how you get on and check back in! I'd love to see how this one turns outxXx

Thanx for the info!:smilepony: I will try that on one of my bait ponies first and see what happens:winkpony:
