I started building a collection of G1 ponies last year, I try and restore their hair to as close as their factory curl or box art as I can get!
My first pony Galaxy! Before photo pulled from eBay
I bought a lot of 5 for $20 next
I'm most proud of Sparkler, I think I really nailed getting her back to her factory curl.
Accidentally forgot to take a proper non-decaptitated before photo of Majesty, but she was the dirtiest of the 5 so I really had to clean her well.
Glory was an easy fix, just washing and drying overnight
I gave Powder a little flip because I think it shows off her streak better
Speedy was another easy fix, except she had classic leg warp from being in the Buttons pose
And my most recent addition, Whizzer! I kind of want to do her hair in a tighter curl but for now I think she looks great
I use wire mesh rollers and a steamer to get those nice voluminous even curls. Steam works MUCH faster than boiling the hair and leaving it to dry overnight and poses no risk of burning.
