Excited to share that I’ve got rats again! For my 21st birthday in a few days my family got them for me again (I’ve probably had like, 20 rats in my lifetime now lol), but I haven’t had any in a few years. Ive missed having these little guys :ponylove:

I'm so excited for you! I have a little Rattery here in Ohio (Gardens Clan Rattery if you want to look me up on FB or ig!). I'm currently looking for a new rattie girl myself since my three ladies are all too old to have babies. Four of my rats will be turning two on Monday, I'm going to make them eggs for breakfast and beef for dinner and maybe bring a croissant home for them from work!
Your girls are sooo cute! What color is the one in the middle? She looks like she could be Burmese but too young for her points to come in. Burmese is my favorite type of coat, but I've always wanted a cinnamon or chocolate colored rat. Most of the rats I've had have been either black, Siamese, blue, or Burmese. I had one fawn and one lilac, as well.
Here is Frank to say hello!

Hello Frank! :redheart: It’s always awesome seeing and hearing about other rat lovers’ pets :lolpony: I hope yours have a nice birthday!
The middle girl looks like a pretty light brown, I haven’t noticed any markings or anything on her quite yet. I’m waiting to actually identify exactly which coat colors and patterns they all have until they’re completely warmed up to me and willing to let me handle them lol, but I’ll get lots of nice pictures then!

Small update: The first of the rats had been named! Meet Cassie! (She’s named after the character from fnaf ruin and I am having a very hard time restraining myself from naming them ALL fnaf names lol). A beautiful black rat with the smallest patch of white on her chest. She is still very shy but slowly is being brave, I’m doing my best to slowly socialize them around people.

Aww hello Cassie! They are SO STINKING CUTE at that age! I think naming them all after characters is a fine idea. I use food names a lot- some of my favorite rat names over the years are Peanut, Cookie, Crackers, Honey, Pumpkin, Brisket, Peppermint Patty, Pecan Sandy (those are girls), then some of my food names for boys have been Nacho, Reuben, Cheeto, Tostito, Porkchop, Hoagie, Sugarbear, and Meatball. Right now I have a lot of more name-y names like Frank, Buster, Wesley, Gus/Goose, Rusty, and Dolly. What are the names of some of your past rats?
In other rat news, someone got back to me about a female rat locally! We are chatting now but if it pans out I might pick her up this weekend!
Here is a photo of my rat girl Ziggy, she is driving a rat-driven car that my fiance made for an engineering project last semester!

Oh wow, that car is so cool!
Most of my rats have had names that seem like normal names, though I do love naming them as references to songs or things I like. I’ve had Emma, Ash, Lucy, Lancelot (Nicknamed Lancey) and Louie, Trixie (named after the g4 pony!), Iris, ect. There have been more but that’s off the top of my head haha, always loved having ratties :redheart:

I love seeing all of these ratties! <3 One of my first pets was a rat named Charlie. :) He was technically my brother's rat but I took care of him the most. He lived to be nearly 4 years old. He was a hooded rat. I made a pony and pet for him, named Rainbow Bridge. :)

My current pet--my Russian blue cat--is named Mochi, after the sticky rice treat. :) I think naming pets after people or food is usually what most folks do.

Excited to follow this thread and see more rats! :)

Aww, what a lovely rat and custom!

I used the naming convention from The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, and called my rat Chunky Haddok.

Wow, 4! I have never even had one live to 3, but I have HUGE rats and I heard that smaller rats live longer.
That pony and her pal are amazing! What a great and heartfelt idea for a custom!
