For some reason I am reminded of the toys that I pulled out of the cereal packet when I was a kid :D

My Little Pony POP kits introduces girls to the fun of the customisable model making with kits that include figure and play set pieces that snap into place as well as hairstyles, wings, outfits and more, allowing girls to create their fully-customisable My Little Pony figurines.

What do you think of the new "Pop" Pony concept?

Now I do see a positive, they are nice and flat so may ship cheaply as "Letter Rate" :)

I think they're pretty neat, like kids can make their own pony characters instead of just sticking to the ones that Hasbro makes.

How funny, I was considering starting just such a thread. Like minds, I suppose! :winkpony:

I find my enthusiasm waned for these as soon as I held a package in my paws and was able to see the quality (or perhaps lack thereof). They seem poorly made, and destined to break within minutes of play. I believe toys should be manufactured with a child in mind, not us collectors. The hollow legs in particular made me shake my head. I realise they have to be this way because of their very nature (pieces meant to be assembled by the purchaser) but I would rather pay more and get a better made set, one with legs in two pieces that snap together to form a complete limb, than what is offered here.

I suppose this is me being picky, but I want something more substantial. Like Slinky said, they look like cereal premiums. I guess also being a model builder in the past, I know these could be a bit more elaborate and still fall within an agreeable price rage.

I.... don't get it.

They're hip and funky fresh! You're gonna be the last kid on your block to have them if you don't hurry!

:winkpony:

They look like all the pieces will get lost in five minutes then the kid will scream till they get another set. CHA CHING!

I spotted these for the first time a few weeks ago on Amazon, or someplace when I was perusing for new pony items as gifts for my niece (I really do swear they are for her! I don't collect G4. -quietly pushes pile of blind bags further into the corner-) and I couldn't figure them out. They look super cheap and I don't think I would have enjoyed playing with them as a kid. I was excited at first, to see the sweet shop, or whatever building it is, with Pinkie Pie, but when I looked closer was very disappointed. Is this something that Hasbro licensed out? Or are they producing it themselves?

I do like the concept, but I'm also a bit hung up on the quality issue. I probably would have loved being able to customize my own characters as a kid, but I don't think I would have liked these.

So, I voted "I love them" because in *concept*, I do. What better thing than to be able to mix and match hair and manes--like, maybe you secretly thought Pinkie Pie *neeeeeeds* Zecora hair (which I can see myself as a kid feeling strongly about). And the house!!! OMG!! But on the other hand, these things are flimsy. The little house--when I put it together, I was so a fraid something would break off. And the stickers.... are not.... very sticky. Thank goodness Pinkie came with two of those little black moustaches, because one managed to fall off into some black hole (or perhaps it found the Land of Lost Socks?). (So, hopefully the kids that have them are the kind of kid that plays with something til it breaks then abandons it and forgets it. Otherwise, it's fine for collectors who put them together then sit back and admire LOL)

Here is Pinkie coming out of her house. (Sorry for the mess, I just tossed things on the Pinkie army shelf with the intent to arrange better soon. It's been a busy summer.)

See? the moustache makes the pony. :D

They're ok. I bought the Luna/Rarity pack and they just seem really cheap. I mean, I know they're cheap but they should still work. I can't get Rarity's forelock piece and a couple of the other hair bits into her head because the plug is too big.

And Luna's symbol is on backwards and that bugged me. I know it was because her flank was too big due to how these things are shaped, but still.

I agree with what's been said here, that the quality isn't the best, but it does provide a financially-friendly option for consumers. And I'm all for anything that encourages and fosters creativity in kids :) Can you imagine having had the option to essentially create your own G1 like kids can with G3 and G4 today?

And DBM that Sugarcube Corner building is adorable!!

As a collector I really don't like them. I went to buy the Rarity and Luna set and it was so cheap. The plastic was thin and the stickers don't work well. I also don't like the fact I have to take them out of the package to display them.

I do however love them if I was going to buy them for a child. What little one wouldn't love being able to make their own pony? I'm planning on picking up a few packs for my cousin. As for myself I'm going to keep waiting for some regular ponies to come out.

I just saw that Wave 2 is coming and that they are releasing another Rarity - this version has the "correct" mane piece, instead of the half-molded, half-hair mullet thing she has going for her now.

Y'know I do need to mention that I like the little buildings, especially SugarCube Corner. I might buy the sets to get the buildings as props, but I'll probably just shove the figures in a box somewhere.

Wait, buildingSSS?? Is there another one besides the sweet shop? Because if there is, I """need""" it. There was a set of household-y stuff for FLuttershy, so I was hoping they'd have a little house for her (you know, to put her furniture in? ha!), but I have never seen anything.

I've only seen the sweet shop for sale thus far, but I had seen an article that had pics of other sets. One was the schoolhouse I think. I'll see if I can find the story and post a link so you can see the pics.

"My Little Pony Pop Fluttershy Cottage Decorator Kit" is what I have. One would think if they provide a Fluttershy Cottage Decorator Kit, there should be a cottage to go with it?? Unless they expect Pinkie Pie to share the sweet shop.

Fiddlesticks and fudgesicles. Didn't save the link and can't re-find the article. I'm pretty sure there were three buildings: SugarCube Corner, Ponyville's schoolhouse and... something. It seems it was either Fluttershy's house or the Cutie Mark Crusader's clubhouse.

I'll look again later!

Hrrm...not sure about these. They look interesting, but I don't think I would spend the money on them.

I voted it's a great idea~

I haven't experienced these first-hand yet, as I only purchase FiM ponies for my kids' birthdays, and for a limited custom pony supply in my bait box.

So after reading what others have said here, I conclude that these would not be good for kids under the age of 8 or 9, as pieces would inevitably get lost easily, and kids not keeping track of them.

I'd say these would work perfectly for older kids, possibly even teenagers who are exploring their beginning in the arts/crafts world.

As a beginner in this area as even becoming a future custom pony artist, these would be a stepping stone for inspiration.
