Soooo today has been the long-anticipated day of me getting my hands on a collection of G1 ponies from an old family friend! Well... After being handed down to at least three different very young little girls, I think it's definitely safe to say that I have my work cut out for me when it comes to touching up these poor little things. :C

Each and every one is rusted on the inside (from what I can tell- tails are turning brown, sounds like there's sand in them when I shake them) and it breaks my heart looking at what I believe to be nail polish... Er, masterpieces... On each and every one of them.

I dislike children for numerous reasons and this is one of them. (Yeah I know they don't know any better, I just can't help it- seeing kids with mangy toys makes me cringe and want to scream at them ugh)

So, without further adieu, feel free to take a look at... The simply immense project I have awaiting me- I say immense cause I'm the world's biggest procrastinator.

Special notes:
Rosedust is my favorite flutter pony and I had no idea that this friend had her, so when I saw her (and in such poor condition) I wasn't sure if I should be happy or bawling my eyes out. Still confused several hours later.

Cherries Jubilee looks like she not only got her makeup done with that "fabulous" nail polish artist, but she also got a little too close to the oven (or other heated object.)
At this point in time I'm not sure if I should use this as an opportunity to make a zombified custom G1 pony or try painting over it.

Baby Lofty currently terrifies me. Her eyes freaking follow me I swear to god and it makes me severely uncomfortable to even look at her. I'll be keeping her some place where I can't see her until I can get my hands on some de-rusting solution (and some spare time) and pop her head off and see whether or not her eyes are even worth salvaging. I'm pretty doubtful that the world's greatest rust remover could fix them and even if it could, she looks so creepy with her original eyes that I'm not even quite sure that it's worth it.

Unknown baby pony- if anyone can identify this little guy/gal?? (Pretty sure she's a she) then I would love you forever haha. I've searched through all the baby ponies on MyLittleWiki and have yet to find anything.

Tinsel Tails was also an unexpected surprise. I now also have a Mattel Little Pretty named Purple Paws and four Troll dolls. Somebody please message me about those four suckers I want them out of my house. Like. Now. (I've always disliked them- they're in good shape, I just want them gone. Anyone here collect Trolls?)

Oh man... those are in terrible condition, but at least you have some G1 ponies now. Good luck fixing them up. :)

It really bothers me when kids treat their toys like that.

@Candyswirl
What really infuriates me about children and toys is when they're clearly sabotaging the toy (usually in public) and the parents are standing right there and they just don't do anything about it. I'll admit I'm still pretty young myself but when I was a little girl my mom pretty much beat the idea into me that I needed to treat my toys nicely because I would never get a replacement if they were ruined. It seemed really mean of her at first but now that I look back on it I honestly can't thank her enough! I just wish other parents would do the same :C

Also thank you, I'll try my best! orz

@Melissa
Yeah I'm pretty iffy about the whole idea of zombifying MLPs to begin with, the only reason I would do it is just to see if I could do it successfully to begin with. But I'm so reluctant to I don't think I will. It makes me sad just to see Silent Hill MLP customs on DeviantArt- even if they're good ones. I think I'm going to try matching her color and painting over it since that's about all I can do. At the very least attempt to make her and the rest of them pretty again, particularly Baby Lofty and Rosedust.

And thank you so much! That was driving me nuts not knowing her name D:

If you rub that area with pure acetone it will at the very least take the nail polih off, the it would be easier to paint over. You could also fill in the hole with clay and paint over it so it doesn't look like she is a burn victim.

The tail rust is an easy fix, but the condition that most of that hair is in (judging from the photo) aside from the wingers I'd rehairing most of them.

Depending in the type of nail polish and how long it's been there rose dusts.. Erm.., war paint? Should come right off with nail polish remover. As her hair is in such bad shape anyways, you could sun bleach remaining mail polish stains and then rehairing her.

Pretty good custom bait, but I'm no fan of zombie anything. And as easily as she can be zombied... She can be restored. Her symbols are in great shape, seems a shame to waste that!

@PonyMommy
Yeah I'll be looking into getting some good air dry clay soon, any good recommendations? Also Baby Dangles' foot has been chewed on, the piece is still there but can be pulled away, so I'll need to glue it back down but idk what glue to use. /to the tutorials! /runs

@Mavi
I'd say most of them have about the same kind of hair condition (like the Wingers) so I'm going to try using lots of styling and cleaning techniques before I decide to rehair them, though I'll be popping their heads off anyways to get the rust out so I suppose it doesn't matter what I do in the long run so long as they look nice.

I think the only good thing about CJ is her symbols and her eyes still being intact, other than that she's faded to more of a peachy color, her hair's the same as every other pony's in this lot, and of course the leg problem, but I feel pretty compelled to try and restore her to her former glory first. If that fails then I guess she could end up as a custom, but I'm thinking I'll prefer to keep her as close to the way she was originally as possible.

Thanks! And yeah I've been thinking about doing that. I love leg warmers anyways, I think I just need to buy an entire army of them and put them on all of my ponies. If I could do that I'm pretty sure I could die happy, haha!

Congrats on your poor little ponies!!! :-( I can't believe what some kids do to their toys! Hopefully, with a little TLC you would have them looking like... well.... maybe not new but better! :eek:k:

@Melissa
Oh my god I have a metric butt-ton of those things why didn't I ever think of that?? You're a genius! XD

@HorsingAround
Thanks! And yeah, I hope I can do them justice D: I'll definitely keep you guys updated!

Congrats on your new ponies.

I must be in the minority here. I see those girls, and know that they were well loved. They must have had some wonderful adventures. I could never fault a child for not keeping their toys mint. Maybe because I played with my toys hard. lol.

@ josiekat
Thank you!

And yes, they certainly have had some wild adventures! I even got to play with them once, a long long time ago when I was probably five or so. I think I just remember looking at them, then taking Sky Dancer and running off with her to go play outside because all the others were in such poor shape, and I was much more used to my ponies which I always tried to keep looking nice and pristine XD

Baby Sea Breeze recently got to go on an adventure with me last Friday, when I took her with me to school for Homecoming week (she was a part of my costume haha) she got to see a parade, go to a Scheels store and party with a bunch of wacky kids during pep assemblies and car pools! (Literally THE biggest adventure she's been on in ten years, considering nobody's touched the ponies since I did so long ago.)

So sad. I took good care of the ponies I had as a kid just very 1 or 2 tiny hair cuts. But the ones that have makeup or marker all over and had bad hair cuts. I wonder why this happened. As a parent my kids will not be allowed to have scissors,markers or makeup near their toys.
