My Cotton Candy Cafe melted!

I just took all of my G3's out of storage to put them on a display shelf. They were all stored in a plastic tub in a cool, dark closet, no sunlight, no humidity. I found that all the ponies touching the cotton candy cafe were stuck to it! When I peeled them off, the paint came with! I tried to use acetone to get the paint off of the ponies-big mistake! The paint just smeared all over! I found that I could "pick" the paint off with a fingernail, that worked much better. None of the other "shops" like Frilly Frocks boutique did this-they were in the same box. I think I saved all the ponies except poor Island Rainbow-I think she will have to be thrown out because she's all blue! Luckily, she is one that is still in stores.
What a weird thing to happen! Now I have the ponies on a shelf, far far away from the cafe!

DON'T THROW ISLAND RAINBOW AWAY!! SEND HER TO ME!!!!
lol

that sucks about hte cafe *runs to check hers*

OH HOW WEIRD mine are sticking too!!! EGAD!

my cafe has been on display since i got it and cotton candy was displayed on the part that has the balcony. I went to take her off it one day and she was STUCK to it. The paint came off when i removed her.

FYI:
You should be VERY careful with any of the painted items including playsets, scooters, and certain accessories. The paint on many of these items does stick to ponies if they are left on it for any period of time. The white paint is the worst, but much of Butterfly Island's paint will come off and with only a week or two of contact. I discovered that the green dress with white polka dots that came with the Dainty Daliah/Goodie Goodie set also contains this paint, and it will stick to ponies. This is expecially bad since the dress comes in direct contact with the symbol. The scooters have paint around the edges of the "seat" area, and the scooter ponies should be displayed with care to make sure they they don't come in contact with those areas.

So in short, beware the white paint(and the other colors). Don't leave ponies in contact with it for any period of time, and if you must display your ponies on top of it, put a piece of blank paper under 'em.

Thanks for pointing that out goddessofpeep.

Also, as a note, if saddles/bridles/shoes are left on G1's for a long time, the colour can bleed onto the pony. I would be very surprised if this does not happen with G3's. I vaguely remember someone having trouble with Blossomforth (1) and her blue dress on the old MLPTP where the colour ran on to her.

I would recommend that everyone that has ponies with clothes on to remove them, or if they do not wish to do that, keep an eye on them in case the colour does bleed.

Man.. I'm sure glad none of the G1 playsets do that. It'd be impossible to find them in good condition nowadays..

Has anyone reported this problem to Hasbro? I'd ask for compensation for that ruined now-blue pony.

And are MIB Scooter ponies susceptable to this? I have Breezie and since she's white, I'm a little worried about her being ruined without even being opened.

My Cotton Candy stuck to the balcony too. Thankfully, I didn't have her on there too long so it wasn't too bad. My Blossomforth is stained bluish from leaving the skirt on her.

Same thing happened to me.

Me too.

Yikes! The Cotton Candy Cafe is out to destroy ponies! I have now removed all the clothing from my ponies, including Blossomforth's blue skirt! Thank god it hadn't stained her yet. And am storing the scooters far away from anything else! Thanks for helping me avoid any more pony disasters! Now, gotta go touch up the white paint on the cafe.....

re

i'm sorry that happened to you. i hope there wasn't much damage done to the ponies or the playset.

The paint to watch out for is generally the thicker looking paint, not the stuff that looks sprayed on in a very thin coat(though the BI paint all seems to stick). The edging on the scooters looks to be the thicker paint, but the area the pony stands on looks ok. I have noticed that the problem paint looks a bit shinier, and the "safe" paint looks a bit more matte.

I'm sure Hasbro picked this paint to use because it sticks to plastic. Sadly it sticks to ALL plastic, not just the plastic it was intended to.

That happened to me right after I bought it. I took it out, and displayed it, and when I boxed it up again for storage, I noticed the pony was stuck to it. The paint came off on that one spot, and got stuck to the pony's feet. Very aggravating.

re:

Also I noticed that my Snow'el has started to get very light red rings on her hooves because of the mittens/booties so deffenatley wach out for that!

Holy Cow! I never knew ANY of this, particularly because all my G3s are still MIB and stored away (I don't have the room to display them). Now I think I need to go check them, especially the ones with clothes!
