My mother went on a spring cleaning binge and is now throwing out my My Little Pony Paradise Estate Accessories (everything that was in the paradise estate) as well as the Ice Cream Shop (which was in the shape of a shoe) with the matching Pony.

I was wondering if they are worth anything at all, does anyone here happen to know if they are valuable?

What about the old VHS tapes of Care Bears and MLPS, do they have any value?

It breaks my heart to get rid of the bonds to my childhood which I have treasured, but my mother is being completely stubborn and put them in garbage bags while I was on a trip/vacation. My mother is not going to let me have the MLP's back.

I would rather give them away rather then toss out, but I don't know how much time/energy and effort would go into posting photos, advertising, and shipping - that would take a lot of work. I'm not employeed right now which is why I was wondering Would they at all be worth anything?

Thanks...

Depending on your location you likely have someone local to you that would be happy to stop by and pay you some money for them. Shipping on both of these playsets can get expensive, but they are well worth saving from the trash! a complete nice Paradise Estate can get over $200. The slipper sweet shop likely between $20-$30 with accessories. Locally they sell for less, sometimes significantly less if you are living in a smaller city or more rural area but someone will want them. I hope this helps, and I hope you can find them a happy home!

I would be interested in buying some of these! They are def worth something, tell your mother she is throwing away cash if she throws them out. I have been restoring my Paradise Estate for the last three years and I am looking for the last few accessories... Could even be persuaded to by the whole set (If shipping wasn't too ridiculous) so they are def worth saving from the trash...

Yeah, they are. She really is throwing away money.

I don't know if you're in the States, MyLaPony, but I shipped a Paradise Estate a few weeks ago via FedEx for a little less than $40. You will need to take it apart (CAREFULLY!) as much as possible to get it into a smaller box.

Do tell your mother that these things have value and persuade her to give you a little time to get them sold before she dumps them!

As for advertising, you might be able to offload it all through this site, so it wouldn't be that much of a hassle.

Actually still have a VCR and the kids I look after love watching these old tapes so I would prolly be interested in them as well... I have no idea of value though.

craigslist is often cruised by pony collectors looking for local "good deals" (just remember to be careful to meet in very public places for safety), as another option. You definitely don't want to trash them!

First, I would like to thank everyone for responding to my post and their interest in the MLP's.

I had difficulty pulling the photos up to post them, but they are there...

Please Keep In Mind That I'am a fan, not an avid collector. So I don't know exactly how to go about advertising and selling (or giving away). Here is what I have...

Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe = in Good/Decent condition:
-Scoops Pony with matching hat
-Soda Fountain (in the front)
-Table
-Chairs
-One Of Each Ice Cream
-Advertisement Sign
-Light Fixture (Not all of them)
-Stickers still attached

Paradise Estate Furniture = In Excellent/Great Condition:
-Yellow Couch
-Blue Vanity Table/Mirror
-Purple Chair
- Purple Table With Stickers
-White Chair
-Purple & White Light

and a Brush Me Beautiful Boutique not in great/good condition:
-The fixture on the upper portion of the left door is there
-The stickers are still on it
-I don't have any of the original accessories
-The fixture on the right handed door is nolonger there
-The name plate at the bottom behind the door is gone
-I couldn't part with the Cute Little Kitty Cat (Sorry- just loved it too much)

I'm being as honest as I can be but unfamiliar with the process of selling or advertising.

I had been here years ago and when my mother was throwing everything out, I felt that I should come back here to find out if anyone was interested in the MLP treasures that will shortly be gone. They meant the world to me and figured that someone else maybe searching for them as well.

Once again, thanks everyone!

I would be interested in any tapes! Most don't have a lot of value but I collect them for the cover art.

What tapes do you have?

This might help wit regard to pricing your Sweet Shoppe.

Vintage My Little Pony G1 Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe with "Scoops" Pony | eBay

Makes me wonder what mine would be worth... Mine is complete, and the pony is perfect... Not that I want to sell it!

Wow! It is worth $50 ( then $13) for shipping? I would have to get a box for the Sweet Shoppe but that would be worth it knowing some one would love it and get use from it.

There are a few of the Ice cream and Lights missing (though they maybe at the bottom of the bag it is in), I know that I do have a few of the lights and one of each of the Ice Creams.

I'd guess more for shipping with the rate increases. If you have a scale, you can get the weight of the package and then measure the height, length, and width of the box and plug those numbers into the "calculate a price" function at usps.com Or, if you don't have a scale, you can box it up and take it to the post office and they'll give you a quote. You have to have an area code, so I just use 90210! LOL!

I also think $50 is a little high for that particular playset on average but I haven't been following the prices on it!

That's cool. By "Cover Art" you mean the jacket/sleeve/cover that the VHS tapes are in, right? If so, That would be a whole lot cheaper (and easier) to ship than the entire VHS tape.

thanks

Thanks, so much for telling me how figure out the shipping cost.

I'm brand new to this and learning as I go...

I do have an interested buyer in the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe and just noticed a bit of yellowing in the back so I took photos and couldn't Private Message them to her so I attached the photos on to here to be fair to her and let her know what she is intested in getting.

I found the perfect box to package the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe in!

I'm not sure if anyone can relate to having to package up an oddly shaped item (the beautiful bow really gives it a unique shape).
Most of the boxes I had were too tight where the bow may get squished (which happened with my Staples Box) and one was too big where it would need more cushioning than anything else (which happened in my Stereo Boom Box).

The box fits the play set Perfectly!

It is:

15 Length
11 Width
12 and 1/2 Height

I put in Shipping Information:
My ZIP Code to Her ZIP Code (94203)

As if I were mailing it out today.

Then I selected the box (Large Package -Any dimension over 12")

I learned that "Express Shipping" would have it delivered to you by Wednesday March 20th and cost $45.15.

Priority Mail would have it delivered by Thursday March 21 and cost $40.10

=P
And then there is Standard Post which would have it delivered by March 26th and cost $12.77
=P

I'm thinking that Standard Post would be the best option, if she is comfortable with Standard Post then we can use that.
I had just noticed today that in the back of the Shoppe there is slight yellowing/discoloration (I believe that is just due to time). I hope that won't be an issue for her, but felt it would be best to point it out now that I noticed it. I'm now waiting for her to let me know how she would like to proceed...

Either way, thank everyone very much for your interest and assistance in walking me through my (potential) first sell.

$50 is definitely high for that set - always check completed/sold listings to get an idea of actual selling price rather than open auction starting prices. Other than one international auction and one that included some other sets, all the ones on eBay seem to go for under $35 and some of those included free shipping.

Here are a few examples:

k, not on topic but I often used that zip code too, just to get a ballpark shipping price. hehehe

back on topic, though you know now: Those are definitely worth trying to see if anyone will buy them before just tossing them. Unless they are covered in mold and all broken to pieces you should try selling them. We also have the wishing well subforum where you can list items you want to give away, people just have to pay shipping generally.

As to the shipping, I usually give them a choice between Priority or the standard shipping. Most people will choose the cheaper because we're not worried about speed. I also like to add in the insurance cost ($1.95 for up to 50.00 worth of coverage) just to be safe. For more expensive items this is a nice guarantee that if something does go wrong (knock on wood) someone isn't out a bunch of money. But that's just my opinion.

Good luck, and I'm sure you'll find homes for your beloved sets!

Yes! The covers/sleeves they come in. Although if they're cool tapes I'd be happy to buy them as well.
