I will be posting Gameloft screen shots and tips here daily. Please reply here with any info you would like to share, what you would like to be referred to when I credit you, and what device you are using. (Ex: Ipod Touch 3 or Android Device: HTC sensation 4G) especially if you are reporting a glitch.

If you have pictures of your town to share, feel free to post them here or send them to me at aprilponygirl@yahoo.com subject line: gameloft. Thank you:)

If you want to publically share your Gameloft Live name for others who follow my blog to add you, post it here and I'll share it.

♥Feel free to discuss here as well! ♥

You can mention Derpy in ze box. ;)

Once Gameloft fixes the GL Live friend issue on Android, then I'll post my username.

Another issue you could mention is that the ponies do not walk around on the Android version, while I hear they do on the Ipods.

Weird, because mine all walk around and I use an Android! Thanks alot. What is your device name?
I should mention Derpy as an easter egg for the game!

I wouldn't consider her an easter egg, because multiple quests require you to find and tap her.

Easter eggs have to be hidden things that don't add or subtract from the game. Since she's required to find, she wouldn't count.

This is true. There has to be an easter egg tho!

Shop bits/ hr

Ok, so for the shops ive got this so far:

It should be noted that with 3 positions filled in a shop more money is made per hour by using the TOP option as it takes less time but still gives the same bonus for each item finished.

Windmill- 1800bits/ hr for 1 or 2 positions. with 3rd position +1380/ hr for making grain
Cherry Stand- 1800/ hr for 1 or 2 position. with 3rd position +1350/ hr for cherries
Lemon Stand- 1800/ hr for 1 or 2 position. with 3rd position +1360/ hr for lemons
Apple stand- 337.5/ hr for 1 or 2 positions. with 3rd position +254.5/ hr for apples
Bookstore- 396/ hr for 1 or 2 positions. with 3rd position +297/ hr for books
Hat shop- 324/ hr for 1 or 2 positions. with 3rd position + 243/ hr for flower hats
Carrot farm- 1 position 272/ hr 2 positions- 288/ hr 3 postions +216/ hr for carrots
Day Spa- 1 or 2 position 203/ hr. with 3rd postion +152/ hr making towels

I'll update as i get more shops.

My current strategy is to have the windmill, cherry stand, and lemon stand at max occupancy and then fill up the other shops one at a time. then before bed i'll put everyne in the lower yield but less frequent ones s i have a nice chunk to wake up to.

Also, i havent really seen a pattern emerge to the types of shards yet except that the higher the bit yield / hr the more likely you are to get laughter shards. but laughter shards and any other spars you have can be "sold" the the element monument for extra money.

I use an Ipad2 -

I notice that if I click "gift" and then visit my friend's village, I can also leave a chest. So I can leave two gifts a day.

Is anyone using the time cheat? I am worried that Gameloft will punish users in some way if used (such as by not giving out laughter shards or something) - that is what the Smurfs game did...

This is more of a theory (aka not quite proven yet) than an actual tip, since this has only happened once so far, but if you go too long (12 hours? 15? I'm not sure) without playing, the parasprites and spiky vines come back, and trees die. I played at around 10:30 last night and put it down until about 3:30 this afternoon, and found my Ponyville looking like that. Annoying. Plus I ran out of kindness shards to get rid of the parasprites. Grrr...
Plus I find it a total pain in the butt that Octavia, my favorite, takes forever to level up.

:edit: 2 more irrelevant things I find bothersome. Just me being silly.

Big Mac with Rarity's Sonic Rainboom wings? Really? Why aren't there guy pony wings?

And why do Octavia and Bonbon have the same house? I wanted to make them neighbors lol

Quick lesson on game theory:

They're going to make the money makers (in this game, shops, but stuff like crops in Farmville and homes in Castleville apply as well) that take the least amount of time have the highest money/time ratio. We can see it as grain being, what, 30 coins/minute? Since it's popping up every minute, if you collect it every minute that's a LOT of coins, but no body is going to sit there and click things every minute for hours on end.

People will, though, plant 12 hour plants or choose the option that takes more time, because they think that a longer time investment means higher outputs. But they don't want you to get lots of coins easily, then you'll have to play the game for less time. They know that the potential money output compared to the actual money output of short-term items (like the grain) will be very small. People will only collect grain, say, 20 times a day, out of 1440 possible collections. But they'll collect both times for the 12 hour item.

Since you can only build one of each item in this game, there's not much you can DO about it, really. You can keep building shops to increase your potential, as well as adding the two extra ponies to the low-level shops. The windmill, for example, gives you +23 coins per collection. So this is almost a 100% increase for grain, but close to 50% for bread.

If you're too lazy/can't do the math, just stick with the low level stuff and constantly harvest from it when you're surfing the internet. I put all my shops in a cluster so I can view them in one screen and collect the stuff as it pops up while I do my homework on my computer.

or just read my post, i already did the math for whoever wants to see it.

I've taken down most of the glitches for my Ipod touch (4th gen, 6.0):

Problem Glitches

-BIG problems in the adding friends area:
1) Not all friends registered, with the app installed, show up in the social screen. I have 24 friends on GL but only 9 or 10 show up in game.
2) Often the game will claim there is no internet connections and thus won't load the few friends you can see.
3) Periodically, if you exit out of the social screen and return the game will not give you a "no internet connection" box but instead says you have no GL friends.

-Glitches in mini games:
1) When running in the apple catching game, the pony will not stop or even run in a different direction even after both fingers have been taken off the screen.
2) Sometimes the screen that adds up points goes nuts and does not show you how many points you aquired (may happen in any mini game).

-Gem glitches:
1) Gems will often dissapear, with no reward in sight that would hint at accidental spending of said gems (I've lost 7 this way :| Not happy..).

Advantage Glitches

Shops Glitch:
1) If you choose to do the first option in a shop, for less time, then choose to do the second before time runs out sometimes that amount of time transfers over to the second option. It's hard to do on purpose. I think it's mostly luck, but I've achieved it by adding a second pony then switching (adding a third later on).

Having Inuranchan as a friend inadvertently taught me what to do to prevent the ugly stuff from growing... If you have something in every spot (like pathways or decorations), the stuff can't grow there.

Sadly I don't have nearly enough bits to clear what's already grown... Several 16000 rocks. :(

or just read my post, i already did the math for whoever wants to see it.

If you understand the basic psychology/thinking behind it, you don't even need to do the math.

I'm starting to get upset at the game. My three quests are play baloon pop twice (will again when it opens up later today), buy and raise scoots to 3 stars (can't since I can't add friends on Android just yet) and buy two statutes and a candy vase. The statues take about 90 gems to do so, or I can pay 10 gems to skip buying them.

If I get to the point where they're forcing me to pay real money to play, there's going to be **** to pay. Zynga doesn't even do this. Yes, it makes your life easier to just pay your way through, but you don't HAVE to. Making you buy a statue for a quest just seems like a sneaky way to get money out of their players.

I'm really just findng it impossible to advance without paying real money. Also, I don't understand how you can buy AJ and Pinkie with bits, but it costs money gems to buy Rarity? I feel like you should be able to at least get the mane 6 with bits, without having to pay real money.

Fluttershy is bits, about 45k. Not sure about Rarity, though.

They should make the fancy ones that people don't need for gems/real money. Derpy, Celestia, Cadence/Shining, etc. But if you're supposed to get someone to complete the game, making you pay money for it is pretty low.

ETA: The thing about this model of free social gaming is that paying should only be for hardcore players who want to power level or get something special that you don't need, but makes your game look nicer. What Gameloft is doing here doesn't feel right.

I use a Samsung Fascinate. :3

Is it just me, or do the Cherry Farm and the Windmill continue to produce even without worker ponies? Mine do. xD

The friend thing is driving me nuts...I wish Gameloft would hurry and fix it. I have to find three treasure chests, but don't have friends for that due to their glitch.

I forgot to mention that tip, but I'm glad you noticed it and its helped you :) I'm also having trouble raising the money to get rid of those 16,000 rocks =_= To prevent those from growing again be sure to move trees around close enough so only 4,000 rocks or less grow there.

I'm at the same point in the game as you are, same missions and all. I'm quite annoyed at that too...seems like such a cheap move. I've never had a game which forced one to do that, nor have I ever seen $99 as a price for something other than FarmVille. I can't help but feel its attempting to take advantage of the prices MLP stuff goes for on eBay...

Kotaku wrote a piece about it, and he said that he spent $18 on gems, and he has Rarity. But he also used the time change cheat to get lots of money, as well as he's playing on iOS, so he can add friends.

After the balloon pop quest, you need to get 10 gems for a quest. Sigh.
