Made my first irrevocable pony mistake :(

Out of the lot of ponies my SIL gave me, 4 had mold in them. The first one that I took the head off was no longer glued to begin with. Easy. Second one had glue in tack here and there. Got it. Third one had lots of glue, I used a butter knife to gently wedge in there. Some sweat, but presto! Fourth one, was glued like CRAZY. I decided to use an x-acto knife because the butter knife method was killing my hands. I accidentally went in too deep and cut into the plug part that comes from the pony's neck into the body. And I didn't realize it at first and went a little further along before I realized my error. :( The only thing I can be thankful for is that she was a poor pony to begin with. So a good learning experience that I'm not crying from, but still feel bad. I can still put her head back on, but I have to be careful with her.

It should be okay if you just glue it back on.
You are right. I wasn't thinking about gluing it back on. I wasn't planning to glue any of the others, since the heads fit so snug, but I will glue hers. I'm so silly sometimes and don't think about all the options.

I've done it before too, lol!

I have done it before. As well. I dont think I could use a butterknife I probably would cut myself worse.

Use a couple of dabs of tacky glue. You don't have to glue it all the way back on. That'll help hold it in place but you'll still be able to take it off again in the future if you need to. A cut in that part of the neck really isn't that big of a deal. :)

So I can't remember where I read it, but somewhere in this forum or the arena someone said they put the pony's neck under hot running tap water and it loosens up the glue to stringyness and then they use a butter knife to wedge the rest. Tried it on another pony and wow that really worked!

I usually soak the pony's neck/body in very hot water in a empty yogurt containers. I use a tea kettle. then I take the exacto knife out and try to cut or pry it open. I may try the butter knife thing next time.

When you dip your Pony's head into the boiling water remember to make screaming sound effects and holler, "PLEASE DON'T BOIL MAH HEAD!" to make it more fun.

More fun for you, the Pony not so much.

I can relate. I was trying to clean my only baby Moondancer a few months ago, and instead of using an exacto knife, I was using scissors and whatever (a butter knife maybe?). For some reason I was like 'Hey, I'll clean her insides too!'. I was trying to whiten her body more, so I started with her insides for whatever reason. Her head didn't come off easy, so whatever I was doing, I didn't cleanly cut it and I cut a chunk of her neck/body instead, attached to her head. 0_O

I felt bad since she's my only one, but you almost can't tell where the cut seam is until you pop her head off.
I don't think I'll ever clean inside my babies (all my ponies are my babies!) again unless they really, really need it.
