Hi MLPTP!!

I used to be a regular on here but I've been on a 10 year hiatus due to school and life. But now I'm back and looking to sell my entire collection. Need the money to get my business off the ground and to afford a house! So since i've been away for so long I'm looking for some advice as to the best way to go about this! I will put lots of things on eBay, but my collection is pretty extensive so this will be a gradual process. Is there a site someone would recommend for me to upload tons of pictures too? I'd like a good way to organize everything so I can post easily here and respond to want ads. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Heart Throb! I'm also hoping to sell My Little Ponies for the first time - though not on the scale you're aiming for (I'm only looking to shift 5 mint-on-card Ponies we forgot about in storage)! I've yet to list Ponies for sale, but have done a lot of research on My Little Pony collectors, ebay, PayPal, Post & Packaging, etc., so I'll gladly share what I've learnt. Please note that everything I write is only a suggestion - I won't be offended if you decide against advice I offer.

I'd recommend grouping your Ponies by generation and/or product series first. For each Pony within a group, assess condition, rarity, desirability & value before you post anything about them online. Rarity & desirability are what I'm struggling with - my Ponies are rare, but not desirable, so that brings down value. What you don't want is to spend loads of time & effort taking photos & making listings only to find the Pony won't make the profit you expected it to (i.e. can you justify spending all that energy for two quid profit?).

It was helpful to me to draw up a simple Excel spreadsheet. It tells me:
  • The total sum a local or international customer will pay for the pony (includes post & packaging)
  • Profit I'd expect to receive after ebay fees and PayPal fees
In short, don't rush into anything. Once you've calculated estimated profits, & you think it worth the work, you can move onto pampering your Ponies for professional photoshoots! (P.S. Sorry if you've already done/known all this...)

I like Google Photos for pictures.

My hubby wants me to sell my ponies. I only have the old ponies from the 80s. He keeps saying to me ''They are pointless to keep being stuffed in a bin and taking space in storage.'' Nah, too much work. I forgot what ones I have. And beside I rather my kids play with them and have fun. Once we get a house.
my hubby keep saying ''if you sell your ponies, we would have more money for a down payment to a house,'' don't need too. We got a really nice down payment. For our mortgage. Just need to find a house.
He just wants me to get rid of them. We have them all in one really large bin. however we have really 2 large bins of Lego, which I refuse to sell too.
I don't buy ponies in the 80s like I use too, no more room in my bin. However Lego is super popular in my house. the kids loved the Lego Batman movie. And of course, they nagged me to get them all.

not sure on value of the ponies in the 80s, sorry I could not be much help
separating them would be a great choice. Princess ponies, Family ponies, Twinkle Eye ponies, baby ponies etc. Like many already said.
Explaining the condition of each one would take forever, however a photographs speak a thousand words. You can point out condition of you ponies you notice.
Choosing to sell ponies together or separate from accessories that is something you have to decide on. Sure you might make some money separating this way, however you might be stuck with pony or accessory.
MOC MIB MIB if you have any. The condition of the packaging plays an important role in their value.
I herd about ponies made and sold in other countries, and not in Canada and USA. The mountain boys come to mind.
Supply and Demand. Is obvious. Plays a important role too
And popularity along with rarity of the pony.
Mail orders are worth more, however some common ponies are worth more than mail orders. Guess this depends on who is buying.

packing and shipping, advice use boxes and packaging material at home to help cut down shipping cost. I'm not sure but do not use news paper to wrap ponies to send. Try a plastic bag you can seal ponies with accessories. Many other people have more experience here than I do and have better advice when it come to packing to send.

Shipping around the world tacking, insurance if get lost in mail, and some times duty fees. Of course the buyer will have to decide on this.

However the one thing to keep in mind is a pony is only worth what a person is willing to pay. Some are willing to pay more than others who are only willing to pay less.

Good Luck I wish you Great Success in you sale of your pony collection.
