He really did. He’s got a little ocd, too. “Better to do it right the first time”. He always said that while I was growing up. Here are the plants I picked so far. They’re in the order that they’ll go in the boxes, too. The corner one is a geranium variant that will pour over the side and have purple flowers. It’s a perennial, so it’ll die off completely in winter. Then the carnations are tall and stay green year round. The next ones are evergreens with red leaf tips, supposed to grow to 3’ tall, and they have flowers in July and August that are lilac fading to white edges. The ones farthest out have white spider like flowers that are supposed to be fragrant and they’re evergreen, too. Then on the far right I want to get one that will just be a 3’ skinny evergreen shrub. It gets less light under the eaves, so I’ll need to find just the right plant. I might fill in with annuals or a nice evergreen ground cover.
My dad came over Tuesday to measure, then went shopping and came over Wednesday to build them. Actually pretty easy if you have the tools and get the measurements correct. No veggies in mine though. We have a veggie garden that is roughly 10’ by 20’ and it’s nowhere near full this year. There’s a family of wild bunnies living in a neighbor’s shed that keep eating my sprouts, but so far, cucumber, green onion, beets, butter lettuce, pea pods, green beans, and watermelon are all growing happily. Wesley knows better than to dig or potty up there. I’m so lucky to have my sweet boy. He’s very well behaved.
Apparently, this is ‘surprise! Happy birthday!’ From my parents. I will definitely take some pictures when everything’s planted.
I’m so excited. It’s so nice to be able to go out there directly from my bedroom already and I got the bistro set a few years ago. My ****** neighbors moved, so now it’s become a favorite place to just sit and read with a snack. Wesley loves being outside. He doesn’t want to stay out if I go in, though, so I like to sit out there with him.
