Stopped into a tiny comic book store and saw they had some of the collectors barbies mixed in with the regular action figures. On a whim I asked if he had any My Little Pony's.

To my surprise, he told me had one of the Japanese ones, pulled it down off a dusty shelf way in the back by the register and handed me this:

Is this a Takara pony? I've never seen one before but I've heard talk of them before. My boyfriend, who paid for it, took it from me to wrap up as Christmas Present right after I snapped these shots but I got what I could.

I snuck into my BF's closet when he was in the bathroom found that the pony's arms and legs move. Her hair is a little dirty in the back but I can clean that after x-mas.

I'm not sure if that means she's a real Takara or a fakie but I love her either way ^_^

Yeah, that's the real deal, the real takara pony, holy freaking monkies. There's so few that have ever been found, let alone in the box. You are probably the luckiest person in the world, I can't even begin to fathom how much she would fetch.

Haha, this is an amazing find! DON'T OPEN IT! I mean it's your call, but seriously - these things are impossibly rare and ridiculously expensive, and DON'T OPEN IT! If you must play with it, trade it for an open one and a tidy bonus fee.

AAAAAUUGH! When I was in Japan this summer I spend a day in a thrift mall, and didn't manage to find any of these... would've made my life if I had. HUUUUGE congrats!
 
The box is unsealed and she sits in there loosely, unsecured, so she has already been opened once before, whoever had her before I did.

I suspect from the way the box is sun faded that she was once displayed outside of the box but I have no way of knowing for sure.

I am certainly never taking her out of the box. She is going to sit with pride of place on my pony shelf with my g3's! Who I hope will love their foreign cousin and treat her kindly.

My BF paid 10 dollars for her, which is how much the seller asked. Neither the seller nor I knew what she was when I got her.

I had a vague inkling she might be a fakie but mainly she was just cute and I wanted her.

I posted her on the Arena and you're right, the response has been nuts.

Thus far I've learned she is a genuine Takara adult and people have estimated her price between 1000 - 3000 dollars.

No one is sure exactly sure how many Takara's there are out there but one lady who has been collecting for 20 odd years said she's only ever heard of 3 MIB, of which mine is the third.

She's been taken away from me and wrapped up under the Christmas Tree now but I've offered on the Arena to take extensive photos of all her packaging and the pony herself once I get her back.

The same offer goes for here too, if anyone would like anything specific documented on her, just ask and I would be glad to.

I hope you never have to sell it, definitely a prize possession :) Huge congrats on your find!
