I worry if my favorite pony won't make it

G5 is being talked about a lot right now, and it has me worried. With Hasbro's hyper focus on a certain select few ponies in its toyline of g4, options outside of those few ponies have gotten very scarce. Practically nonexistent in the later years of g4. If this is a continued issue into g5, I fear that g4 will be the first and the last I'd ever get to see of the toyline exclusive pony, Star Dreams.

Wow, they are talking about G5 already? I thought the G4s were popular? What happened to having 10 years of a generation like the G1s?

At this point, when this line has seen such extreme repetition for years, that it makes Core 7 look scarce, do we really want anymore?

I sure don't. Though if G5 is going to continue in the same vein, I've had it.

There's a certain Reddit subforum dedicated to compiling leaks regarding G5, and from what they've compiled, it sounds as if we will have about 10 years (give or take some months) of G4.
There's (allegedly) discussion within the writing staff about how to handle the new show, how to make AJ more popular as a character, and some possible designs have been leaked.
It's unfortunate that Star Dreams never got into the show as much, but it is highly unlikely she'll have an incarnation in G5. Aside from Blossomforth, early brushables that weren't show-originals got swept under the show's rug in favor of new characters.
I'm hoping for a turnaround in the quality of the toys with larger variety in character offerings, but I'm sure that other show minor characters (my fave is Silver Spoon) just won't make the cut. It sounds as if they're going for a more fantasy/adventure setting rather than a slice of life, and there's not really too much room for a bully's sidekick.

All I want in G5 is a better variety of brushables. I miss the days when I could go to Walmart (or wherever) and find a diverse plethora of ponies, regardless of whether they had a role in the films/show. Once the Core 7 and Mane 6 stuff started... ohh boy. That's boring. It's no fun for me. You can only get so many variations of the same pony before it starts losing its appeal.

I'd be pleased with the franchise if they just gave us more variety, like so many here. New Ponies, new poses, more babies and seaponies. You think they'd realize the more options we have, the more money we'll spend.

The Cutie Mark Crew is a move in the right direction. Lots of cuteness, more than just the Mane Six being represented. Now if only they'd do away with the blind bag aspect, I'd be in like Flynn!
