I know the ponies came from the 80's and I've always enjoyed the 80's but when I was growing up I fell in love with the 90's as well. I started listening to Nirvana, grunge music and always swam at the YMCA every summer. There's so many wonderful memories I had. I still remember when I woke up for Christmas and the floor was literally covered with Christmas gifts, I had books that came with cassette tapes- not sure if you remember them or not. They were mainly Fairy Tale books. A lot of kids played outside, I'd go into the woods with my Friends and make a lot of Tree Forts and spend the night at each others house and stay up watching movies very late. Back than staying up late was Awesome, if I was awake at 12 am with my friends we'd tell each other scary stories and go into the bathroom to try to do Bloody Mary but a lot of us chicken out in the end. This week I've been crying a lot cause there's so many memories that comes to my mind. At this moment tears are pouring down my face cause I miss it so much. There's times where I wish I could turn back time so I could relive it all over again when I was younger but I know that I can never do it again. Anytime I buy a pony, I hold it for hours and even smell it cause it has that distinct smell to it. It's so precious to me and anytime I hear old music, especially music that I grew up with I can't help but think of all the wonderful times. Another thing I remember is DS Discovery Zone, not sure if anyone remember this or not but I'd go there a lot with my friends. We'd go skate, ice skating and even go bowling as well. Halloween was awesome too, I'd come home with two bags of candy filled to the top. Man I miss the 90's so much. :cry2:

Ah, I have a lot of similar memories, as well  especially the Bloody Mary silliness~ I spent a lot of time outdoors in the woods too. Exploring nature, lots of fun things... I remember that ended though with a bunch of "No Trespassing" signs being put up... apparently I was exploring other peoples' properties unintentionally. Hey, I was like 9 years old....

Lots of swimming at nice lakes, too... I remember buying my last generation 1 My Little Pony in 1994, it was also the year of a big flood in our area that flooded out the major super store right before Wal*Mart was built.

I purchased my last pony at the flooded store, the box was damaged with some dried dirt on it, I think. Then I started seeing the g2's out in stores~ then nothing, then the g3's came out I got excited and thought they were cute, and were a nice compromise/improvement from the g1's.

I feel the same way about the 80's and the early 90's. I think that's one thing that really sets our generation apart. Our childhood was so awesome and I think a truly unique time that we are unnaturally attached to things from our youth. I know I personally can't leave any 80/90's toys behind when I go to the flea market. Ponies are my particular weakness but when I come across things from those years it really takes me back, makes me think of those years when life was more carefree and those reminders help bring a little bit of that feeling back into my "grown up" life now. I'm just nostalgic I guess but I know I'm not alone :satisfied:

Thanks for both you're posts. I was feeling quite sad when I was thinking about it cause I know I can't bring back time. There's just times where I get so sad when I think about it cause those were such lovely times for me. Anytime I purchase an old pony or buy an old boardgames I feel whole and very happy inside. Just last week I was looking up old commercials and I actually remember seeing them as a child. Sometime this year I plan on purchasing another pony and I think it'll make me very happy. :CC:

I've been thinking about Clarissa Explains It All a lot lately. Also, why did Nick at Night go away?

I miss *aspects* of the 80s and 90s, but certainly not the package deal. I try not to be overly sentimental about the past -- in a lot of ways, the process of growing up is AWFUL -- but also remember the fun and the good, and pass that feeling along to others. (Must be doing something right, since the nephews can't get enough of Aunt Powder.)

I get pretty nostalgic for the 90s a lot, and the early 2000s since that is when I had all my G3s. I wish I could poof back and time and play ponies with young me, I had some good stuff back then. Ahaha

OMG i LOVED discovery zone as a younger kid! there was one my mom and her best friend used to take me and my best friend to while our dads were at work. back then both our families were pretty unstable financially so we could only go every once in a while but it was always such fun! i have great memories of that. :)

i hope you're not too sad about feeling nostalgic and stuff. "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" *hugs*

I'm so nostalgic for the 90s. I mostly listen to 90s music. When I'm online I usually binge watch 90s tv shows.
