Hey all you Customizers, I've been wondering how would I go about removing some dust off some older customs of mine. I recently received two customs back that I had made back in 2003. For some reason all the customs I made while living at my grandparents became sticky. None of my customs I make now but with the same type of paint are sticky.

So the two customs I got back are dusty and I want to know how to remove the dust from them safely. They have enough dust on them that they don't feel sticky. My friend that owned them said she tried to rinse them off but it only made the stickiness worse.

Are they sealed? If so then maybe a damp cloth or baby wipe. Thats about all I would use.

A Swiffer? Dust sticks to those suckers like a magnet!

prehaps I'll try the swifter. I don't think these two where sealed cause back then no one really knew a good sealer for them. Obviously Krylon spray was bad bad bad. (I used that on my first custom).
It finally occured to me this morning It may have to do with the back that my grandmother smokes. :(

I used a baby wipe on ThanksGiving and she came clean, California is still stick and has lint on her. I guess I can try again she she dries.

Just incase your interested in which ones I'm talking about:

Those are some cute customs. :) I hope you can get them cleaned up without having to damage the paint. I've gently washed my tacky ones in the sink with a bit of handsoap, just using my fingers to lather them instead of a toothbrush.

My two oldest customs are also from 2003, and also a bit tacky to the touch. It's odd, because I'm certain I used the same brands of paint and varnish on those two as my persona pony (which was finished in 2007.) I was thinking that maybe I applied the paint too thickly on my first two customs for it to really have dried well before I sealed them -- plus I did them in the summer, when it was quite humid. The last one I had tackiness issues with I believe was a bad reaction with cleaning agents and a brand of paint I'd never used before that I don't think I thinned properly -- I'm sure that one was "artist error" and not a material malfunction, if that makes sense.
