how to clean this

If its got scuff marks on it i would take a magic eraser or finger nail polish remover to it. Then i would take a damp wash cloth and go over it with that.

NO solvents! They melt ABS plastic. No fingernail polish remover, no acetone, no Goof Off.

If the decals are removed, then an old toothbrush and dish detergent do an excellent job. If the decals are in place, then spot cleaning with a damp cloth will do. Use cool water. Heat makes ABS yellow and brittle.

I ruin pony houses so you don't have to. XD

Dava is correct, you got lucky.

I've had AMAZING results using cheap microfibre cloths. To start I use one that is really rung out, and almost dry and go around (avoiding all the decals) to lift a bulk of the surface dirt. Rinse it out, ring out until nearly dry and go over everything again until the playset is clean. Once it is, I go over everything- gently. you don't want to wet the stickers at all though, so it's important the cloth is almost dry.

I used the damp cloth on the accessories and they cleaned up nicely ! I used the magic eraser on the outside and the play set is fine. after cleaning it with the eraser i used a damp cloth many times to rinse it off then used a second one to dry it. It looks very nice now but i thank all of you for the tips. :cheshire:

If anyone of you use nailpolisch remover on plastics, !!!PLEASE!!! make sure you have the one with NO ACETONE in it!! You need to have the type you can also use on fake nails!

Ahh, guessing that's why you haven't melted a playset. :) Even nailpolish remover with a little acetone in it will leave a nice little melt mark.

ok fellow pony fans i have a question for all of you

first of all i have two gen three ponies with marks on them that is the good news

the bad news is the mark on the first one is red/pink lipstick

the other one is a white gen three with three steaks of PURPLE marker

any way to get them off the pony without damaging them ???

:frown:

You can use nail polish remover on the ponies themselves since they're a different type of plastic than the playsets - just don't let it get on any painted parts.

For the lipstick on the first one, a magic eraser might work. If it doesn't a Q-tip soaked in pure acetone might. If that fails, sunfading will be the way to go. You'll probably have to sunfade the purple marks on the other anyway.

Notes:

Magic erasers can be used on painted areas but you have to be gentle and keep checking to make sure the paint isn't starting to come off as well. I wouldn't use it directly on glittery symbols either.

To sunfade, cover hair and symbols (anything you don't want fading) with something like tinfoil or painter's tape. There are tutorials around with more information.

Bleach wipes all the way

I used Lysol bleach wipes on any of my mlp playsets (but only lightly wiped over the stickers) where as I scrubbed dirt and other grime off and that really cleaned and disinfected well. Which is super important since I have little children who INSIST on playing with any part of my collection they can get their cute little hands on.

After all - this stuff is at least 20 years old and God only knows where it's been and what it's seen!!! And usually by the time it makes it to me, I don't think it's been cleaned... like EVER so it's long overdue.

OH! But beware!!! My mom suggested I put one in the dishwasher once to wash it up and sterilize it - and it came out warped from the steam and some parts were melted - so I'd stick to the Bleach wipes!

And for the pen marks and stuff - Magic Erasers are ASWESOME!!

both of the said ponies are gen three and both are white ones i tired the magic marker with no luck at all. The next thing i am gonna try is the nail polish remover if that does not work i will try the sun fade method.

so i used the nail polish and these are the results

first pony worked really well unless you look very closely you will not see the faint lipstick that is left

sadly for pony two it did nothing at all :(
