Yes... it is us. The family that conceived and hosted Pony Palooza 99 and 00.
Just to dispel a few myths and shed some light on the matter...
(1) Us - well we were always pretty darn active in the trading community... we really got tired of the grind though. All the deadbeat bidders, some of the less than scrupulous traders, negative feedback from people sending us cash via regular mail that we never get and the demands for merchandise we never got paid for.... plus it was just getting to be more work than fun. We had pretty much gotten everything we set out to get and more. We also had a new one in the house (for those that were here, yes six children... the last one was born like a month after the last palooza). The older kids got more involved in outside activities and there just wasnt the time nor the desire to participate like we once did. Also, we another child we were forced to dismantle the ponyroom and return it to being a bedroom. The entire collection has been packed away for a couple years now. The youngest girls still love to play with the ponies and we find them taking out boxes from time to time to see what they can find. We did sell off a good deal of our MOC/MIB ponies about 3 years ago - but didnt sell the lose ponies or ones we didnt have loose. We may have even sold off a few of our rarities like reverse hair Gusty and some of the weirdo Macaus. Been so long I dont really remember now. But, most of our collection remains intact... not on display but in storage boxes.
(2) Just who is Helen? Helen traded for years on ebay under her email address hdkiker@xxxxxx.xxx. For us, she started out as our major nemesis! We used to butt heads all the time on the hard to find stuff and we had a "we outbid you, you outbid us" relationship that lasted for years. Later on, we met Helen in RL (she lives only a few miles away). Helen's collection is just ungodly - for those that were impressed by ours? Her's is amazing... just amazing. We run into each other around town from time to time. Now, she has asked us to liquidate her collection for her. Her daughter will be bringing us a carload a week and we'll likely be selling off the collection for well over a year - yes... it is indeed that expansive.
Is Sugarberry (Rayna) around anymore? We would like to speak with her if anyone knows how to get in touch with her.
As I have posted elsewhere, I understand that everyone would like to be able to fill out their most desired ponies as soon as possible but please understand, we wont know what we will be selling until the week we are putting them up for sale. Asking what and when is pretty useless... we don't know.
In any case, it was nice to see the comments from those that remember us so favorably and I hope we do get the chance to get to know some of you other folks we haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet.
Be well and happy collecting, everyone! See ya around the corral!
