Help! My Starglow needs a tail :(

Hi everyone,

My childhood Starglow needs a tail, unfortunately I dug her out of storage yesterday and the tail was completely gone... Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could get the right colors of synthetic hair for her? I want to save her so badly! I have already restored her mane with conditioner but I cannot locate her tail, I guess it just popped out without the washer or something and it's lost forever. There are no star glows on Ebay that are damaged that I could substitute her tail for either, she is in pretty perfect condition other than that... :(

Just a thought, have you checked inside her? I know she's translucent, so you probably have, but it happened to me once.
 
Well if you’re wanting to restore for just looks, I’d suggest dollyhair.com you can probably find hair very close to her original and mix the colors yourself. It won’t be an exact match to her original but should still look lovely. I’m thinking maybe Heartthrob and Lemon Drop for the colors?

Hi! thank you for answering, unfortunately it's not inside of her. It looks like I pulled the washer out at one point and her whole tail is just gone. I took pretty good care of her but I bet it got rusted and I was going to repair it and then forgot and lost it!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I had no idea this site existed and I'll try ordering those colors! I think I'll probably try "butterfly" and "razzle dazzle" too since moon dancer might be a close match. Thank you so much!
 
There should be a hair color guide somewhere and you can order some.

Yay! I was really close then! I was just going by eye and originally thought golden delicious then changed my mind at the last second as I posted. That site is awesome too as I have a baby brightbow that needs rehaired!

I ordered a little of both just in case! I will post a comparison pic for reference when I get it, just in case anyone ever wants to see what color choices they have.

Happy you found some new hair, I bet she'll look amazing! Just wanted to drop a little tip off should someone else come across this problem; most customizers keep the tails of the ponies (I have a bag full!) So sometimes you can be lucky and get an old tail

Thanks for this tip, if the hair doesn't match I am going to go that route since I've only ever restored one pony!!

Hey everyone!

THANK YOU all for your help!!! she looks amazing.
After several weeks of waiting (Dollyhair is behind due to the virus) I finally received the hair and was able to finish her tail! I used a plastic washer of course, and she looks fantastic. The hair matches really well, I looked at a ton of photos of Starglow online to get the mix of yellow/pink right. I think I did okay, although I trimmed it a lot longer than originally because I wanted her to have a long tail haha. I used the recommended colors and the walkthrough that was suggested, now I am going to attempt to redo my Sundance who does not have mane. Hoping my re-root tool I got from Dollyhair will work, I am going to go incredibly slow since I've never re-rooted before!

I also cleaned her with mr. clean scrubber and a conditioning bath on her hair.

If you're talking about her body there's a filter on that pic from my instagram but she's pretty clear teal! I have kept her out of the sun for years in storage, she still glows! I'll try to take a non-filtered pic tomorrow!

Ooh thank you so much! I might need a lot of help to be honest, I have watched a ton of tutorials today. I hope I can not harm my Sundance's head.
